Question of the day......

Besides exercise and shopping for new clothes, what have you replaced your eating addiction/habit with?? What is your new love or comfort activity????

Mine would have to be cooking or recipe searching.  I am always looking for new HEALTHY recipes to try.  I love to cook and always loved to try new recipes, but seems I always gravitated to unhealthy things full of carbs and fat, now I am constantly searching for great healthy recipes to try.

Another thing I like to do, more when I cant sleep, and want to snack is play Mahjong on the computer.  Keeps my hands and my mind busy, I dont think about food.

And last but not least, Im an Obesity Help junkie.

So tell us, what do ya do-ooo-ooo now, instead of a klondike bar??

I also LOVE to cook and search for recipes. My favorite site is allrecipes.com.

I like doing crafty stuff. I just finished ripping the seams out of like 10 pair of my husbands worn out jeans so I can make a rag quilt. Who knows when it'll actually get done, but one of the hardest parts is complete! I also make garland out of dried fruit and that takes quite a bit of time when I feel like doing it(and it smells delicious!!!!). After I got done walking(with a little jog) last night, I sanded down what will be my headboard. It'll take me a few days to paint and antique it, but maybe I can move on to painting my bedroom this weekend so that by Sunday(hopefully) my room will be moving towards order! So that's what I like to do...oh yea and photography. I would refinish furniture and be an interior decorator if I thought it would pay as much as my current job, but that's a rocky business at the moment.

I am not into the cooking part yet. That is because I can not eat a lot of things right now I am still at the mushy stage LOL. Even though I have been collecting recipes to try when I can.

I love to PSP (Paint Shop Pro) as a matter of fact I made the little thing in my sig about the Walk from Obesity. If anyone wants to use it also to spread the word in the forum just go ahead and snag it and use it LOL.

I also love to play games on the computer I am a club POGO member if I am not here I am usually there LOL.

I ditto 2 of your things Rhonda, looking for healthy recipes and being an OH junkie!  I'm also starting back to my artwork.  I always do paintings and drawings for others so I'm starting a painting of the Old Mill for my Living room.  I have just started my own website for my art, especially portraits.  When I get it finished I'll send you all a link!  ..love the Walkfrom Obesity logo you made Janoice!  I need your talent on my website!!

Well,

I walk in the afternoons and the walking is when I was normally snacking and so I walk and walk and when I get home, I shower and get ready for bed and settle down for TV.  Other things that I do is read.  I've always been an avid reader, go figure a MA in comparative lit, and PhD in English, hmmmm, so I read.  I also play spades online.  Hmmm, oh and sometimes I clean.  Before wls, cleaning house was such a chore.  I weighed, at one time, over 500 pounds, so you can imagine how hard it was to do much of anything.  There you have it.

I actually ALSO have to admit to cooking SOOO much more now and I recipe search like CRAZY!

I've also become REALLY interested in nutrition and health of WLS post-ops.  I spend hours each week just reading about vitamins, minerals, nutrition and health issues specifically related to WLS post-ops - mostly RNY, but even DS and band too.

I also watch the food network to get recipe ideas and/or watch people cook.  (Weird huh?) LOL

Great question Rhonda!

Well, besides chasing after my high strung toddler (great excercise!) I like to do all kinds of crafty things like Shawna. I have been trying to focus on those things instead of hanging out in my kitchen all day. Right now I'm crocheting a prayer shawl for my dear friend and neighbor who was just diagnosed with lymphoma. It's just a way of remembering to pray for her as I'm working. When I'm done I'll give it to her. I also love to make stained glass charms, sew, scrapbook, quilt and now I'm getting ready to try some wool needle felting. You name it, I'm experimenting with it.

I used to bake and make cakes (a few are on my profile) but I'm taking a break from that until I feel I can handle the temptation.
