Question of the day......
What is something you have always done, and its different to do after weight loss surgery??
My thing I have noticed it different is shaving under my arms!!!! When I was so big, my underarms bulged out and shaving them was easy, now when I shave, its like an acrobatic act w/the razor, b/c my armpits actually pit. Kinda strange, I know, but everytime I shave them, I think about that. On the flip side, shaving my legs is a dream now, its so nice to be able to stretch out my leg in the bathtub and shave all the way around it w/o feeling like Im shaving baby elephants!!!!
Come on out and answer our questions, lets learn more about each other. If anyone has something they wanna ask, jump on in and ask, this is just something fun to do.
Hugs,
Rhonda D.
Back when i was a lurker, I loved reading these!!! Then they kind of fell off the radar when I "came out".
One thing in particular: HaVe FuN!!!! For example, we went to Fast Tracks(similar to locomotion, but MUCH cooler!!!) for my nephew's 7th birthday and you would have thought I was one of the kids! Now my husband has always been a kid, but I would have watched the kids play even though I wanted to pre-op. I wouldn't have rode the race car simulation games because if I did something fantastic and alarms started sounding, everyone would look at me. Or what if I broke it. Not yesterday...I played the race car game 3 times and it has some crazy simulation and leans like a car and shakes when you get rear ended, etc. I wasn't worried about anyone seeing my fat jiggle, I was worried about my husband beating me! And he did, he came in 1st and I came in second...barely
. I also found the basketball arcade game. We went over there and I played two rounds. I didn't care if anyone was standing there watching me. I played alot of bball in school and havent played in WAY too long. I didn't do too shabby either! I didn't play laser tag just because I didn't want to. I was going to bowl, but I was too busy on the race car game and we didn't want to be there until 8 as I had to go to walmart and then to the lake to get some exercise in! Fun times...I'm ready to go to Steal Your Dollar City and ride some rides now!

Shawna,
You so kill me, Steal your dollar city!!!!! Never seen it like that but I love it. Im sorry I seemed to quit posting the question when you stopped lurking, not intentional, just worked out that way, but Im back on it, and I plan on keepin it going, but if you think of one b4 I post, then jump on in and help a sista out!!!!
Isnt it funny that b4 we worried about little things like fat jiggling, now we are just proud its loose enough to jiggle!!!!!
More questions coming your way!!

You know Jeannie, I was thinking the same thing after I posted my first answer!!!! Those dang stalls are built for a world that is our size now, and they think that is average size. They soooo need to look around and know that small is not the average, but seems more and more are wanting to be healthy.
I can remember wondering why all doors went in, and when you got it open, I never had room to walk around it to get to the toilet!!! Geez, must have been designed by tall skinny men, they only have to aim anyway!!!!! OK, getting too bad now, ha ha.
Congrats on your great weight loss, how is your son doing by the way??

OK I'm pretty band new at all this, but the weird thing I do now that I didn't do much before WLS is I actually cook. Before WLS I wanted food as fast as I could get it so I ate a lot of fast food..heh..pun intended..and frozen junk. Now I find myself looking for recipes to make and try and actually shopping for good healthy food. My husband is thrilled! and I'm pretty proud of myself for doing some planning as well. Kelley
I have always LOVED to cook Kelley, but I know now Im so much more aware of what Im cooking, everything is in Canola oil, Sunflower oil, (on the rare occasion that I fry) and Im a label reading queen. I bet folks would hate me if shopping in a grocery store was like a buffet line, have to wait on the one in front of you!!! Id be the slowest one in town.
I have also noticed that I do eat out so much less now, and I feel not only healthier b/c of it, cuz we are, but I also think I can cook it so much better than I can eat out. Oh, if I had the money to open a Post WLS Restaurant!!!!
Hugs,
Rhonda D.
P.S. It was so great to meet you at the support group meeting, hope to see you again next month!!
I can relate to what everyone has already said for sure.
SO much has changed! Let me think...
I think the biggest chances for me are:
1) the way I sit (I naturally just went back to crossing my legs & sitting indian style without even thinking about it.)
2) the way I sleep (I naturally went back to sleeping on my stomach when I didn't have a big fat gut that would squash upward into my lungs preventing it before.)
3) the way eat/drink (Everything is different with that now. In fact, I think I may start a thread about that. Eating/drinking before/after just so we can see how different we all eat/drink now compared to before.)
Hey Wen,
Not only do I sit w/my legs crossed, sometimes I cross my legs and then cross my feet in reverse as well. Draws some funny looks, but it feels good, stretches my leg muscles and I just do it out of habit.
Never could I sleep on my stomach, still cant, hurts my neck, but I wish I could, I see people talk about it and how comfy it is, and Im like, Dang, how they do that!!!
I agree totally about the eating difference, when I read your other post, I was like, dang, I used to eat like that too, and to think, we lived like that from day to day. And not only was I a McD's fan, I was supersizing everything, and could eat it all in like 10 minutes, drink the big ole drink, and wonder in 10 minutes what was for the next meal!!! I guess that is one thing that amazes me, how fast we used to eat, versus how we eat now!!!
All I can say is THANK GOD FOR WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY!!!!
