Even though I was having a bad day and was emotional, I got some good news in the mail when I got home from work tonight!  For the very first time since surgery my lab/counts are all good and where they should be.  My Iron had never gotten above 46 and finally YES FINALLY it was 99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so glad.

I finally found an Iron supplement that works for me and I take 2 a day with 3 chewable Vit C since it helps with the absorption.  I get it at Sams Club it is their Members Mark brand and one pill has 50 mg, so I get 100mg a day plus the Vit C helps it absorb better, I was going to be so worried if it wasnt working this time.  After surgery I took the BA chewable Iron and it did nothing for me and in fact was close to a transfusion on it.  Then I switched to a Wal Mart brand called Slow FE, it did nothing for me.  Finally this worked, I think everyone has to try their own mix and find what is right for them.  I am also taking 4 calciums a day, 3 womens multi and a B Complex.  Then I get B12 injections every 2 weeks.  I have it down to a science and routine everyday.  I bought a pill case and fill it every morning and put it in front of me at my desk and every 2 hours take some form of a vit(s).

Congrats!!  I know what low iron can do to a person.  I seem to suffer from it regularly, especially around my monthly time.  I get the most horrible restless legs and arms (yes restless arms) for several days/nights where I am half asleep walking the floor and moving my arms hooked to oxygen and cpap machine and trying not to trip on hoses, LOL.  Doubling up on sleeping pills just so I can sleep for a few hours. Sometimes I dose up on the iron during these times often taking 2 to 3 times what I normally take daily.  But I try to be careful cause I don't want to OD on iron. I am glad your labs are all normal!!

Hey Eve sweetie guess what I figured out, those sleeping pills and such were causing my restless arms, If I take one, I have to walk just like you and shake them cause I feel like I could crawl out of my skin, it makes me nuts!  So no more sleeping pills for me, now these were the OTC kind nothing prescribed, I was using my pain meds to sleep, they didnt make my arms nuts! Early out, I stopped taking my sleeping meds (150mg Trazadone and I was allowed an extra 75mgs if needed) and I got horrible restless legs from it, so I never took it again.  Now I just get it, but its my arms and legs, and I think it has to do with my period, LOL.  I don't get them every month, just like every other month.  Especially if I start slacking on my iron pills and B12 stuff.

It's a quick reminder when I forget, a painful and irritating reminder, LOL.

I use Vistoril now for sleep, it's non narcotic and non addictive and I have no troubles with it at all.
