Hey everybody!
For those of you that missed this link, here it is.
No matter what surgery you had, everyone should read this. I printed it out so I could read it when I had the time without coming online.
It's about WLS post-op nutrition.

Let me know what y'all think.

It's a PDF file I think that should come up in your internet explorer if you have software like Adobe installed.
You can also get to it by going to:
www.soard.org
(That is the ASMBS online journal. I check it out every couple of months to get some of the latest most up to date info. You can also search current and past periodicals for information. It's a cool place to lurk.)
There is a yellow circle in the middle (slightly right) part of the page that says:
"Bariatric Nutrition"
to appear in
Volume 4 Number 5S
Sept/Oct 08 Supplement
Click on that and see if you can get it to come up that way.
I had no problem getting it to load, using the link in the original post. I saved it to my computer and I skimmed through it, it is 36 pages and I am still drinking my morning shake, so I am not completely awake yet, LOL. But I did pay close attention to several sections (thanks to the "bookmarks" listed on the side of the pdf file) particularly the B vit section and also the Calcium Citrate vs Calcium Carbonate. I was shocked to see that even at 1200 mg doses (what I normally take) that they have concluded that it was not enough, and suggested a higher dose (1500 if I am correct, could be wrong, like I said, still not awake fully yet, LOL) so wonder if I should go from 2 pills twice daily, to 3 pills twice daily.
Later on I will read the file more in-depth and take some notes. I will go to my 1 year post-op with Dr Baker in August, and so I am sure next month I will be doing my bloodwork and I want to know what to look for. And bring these papers with me to discuss with Dr Baker because I don't want to be lacking in any of the vitamin depts. Too many things can happen, and you don't even know anything is wrong until it is to late, and I have enough health problems not related to surgery, so I don't want to add anymore.
Thanks Wendy for posting this, I will share it with some other groups I belong to.

Hey Wendy,
Thanks so much for posting this link! Some of it is certainly waaaaaaaaaayyyyy over my head, but there are parts that I think important for me to copy and give to my PCP.
I think I might print it out too. It will give me something to read on the plane next week.
Hope things are better for you. Talk to you soon
Susan
