Home again, home again, ziggity zig
Had the surgery on Wednesday morning at Northwest Medical. Dr Roller said he had a few problems getting to everything and that I made him really earn his money on this one, lol. I'm sipping and walking. Doing fine. I feel like the Michelien Man though. Dr. Roller had to go at me a second time and I guess I got a double dose of the CO2 during surgery. Anyway, my whole body is extremely puffy. Tammy was my neighbor on the floor after I got out of ICU. She is a very pretty girl, and sweet too. I think she went home yesterday too. Anyway, the hospital staff were all great and very attentive, Dr. Roller was wonderful, and I am happy to be on the other side now. The only bad thing about the whole experience so far is that when I got home yesterday and stepped on the scale, I was up 15 lbs. Now that got me hot. I know the fluid will go down too now that I am back on some bumex and have the IV out.
Oh Boy, I get to be the first to welcome you to the loser's bench!!! Congratulations!
If I were you I wouldn't get on the scale for about a week. Give your body a chance to get rid of that excess fluid. it will only mess with your noggin'!
Keep walking and sipping, rest as much as you can and keep us posted on your progress.
Take care,,
Susan
Thanks for the advice about the scale. I am walking and sipping. I had to go by work on Sunday and have one of my buddies steri-strip the incision above my belly button. It had been weeping some since surgery and when I was changing the bandaid, the rest of the plastic covering the incision came off, lol. i spoke to the doc on call and he was ok with that. Now I just need to talk them into making house calls, lol.
Yay for being out of surgery! I was going to come find you when I was up there visiting Tammy(on Wednesday), but I don't like to just drop in without asking first! I am the type who doesnt like visitors when i look like I've been hit by a mack truck! Did you have to go back into surgery or did that happen while you were still in OR?
As for the scale...well I didnt even want to know. I finally got on after about a week after surgery at my husbands request and became addicted which led me down a troubling road in the beginning. I'm glad your home and are now a LOSER!
100 pounds down: 9/19/08 Onederland reached: Sometime during the week of 9/22
Weigh Date: 1/16/09 Height: 5'6" Surgery Date: 2/13/08 Current Weight: 180
So glad u ar home and on the losing team. We love having new losers. Just remember what the others have said. Stay away from the scales as much as possible it really can bring you down for no reason.
Hope to see you sometime at Dr. Rollers support group meetings. There is one tomorrow night. I am going to try and be there.
Take care and keep losing.
