Hi there, Ladies. I need a new gyn.  Long story short,  I had a hyst in April and I am having complications and I need a new Doctor.  I live in Russellville, but I am willing to drive wherever, as long as they are worth it.  Any ideas/advice. Thanks!! Angie

Well where is one closer to  you? I know Fort Smith would be 1.5 hours away but so would Little Rock and I would think that NWA is even further for you.  Have you asked any local friends or family in Russellville? AB

Hi AB Thanks for the reply. The only family I have in Arkansas, are my inlaws who followed us out here.  We have been here 6 years.  We are transplanted from Florida.  I have a few close girlfriends and they use the same doctors all at the same clinic , the only one in Russellville.   I do not care about distance.  I care about skills.  I had my RNY in Little Rock even though there was someone at the time in Russellville. Thanks again, Angie

Angie, If you come to Fort Smith, you want to go to Cooper Clinic, they have a lot of OB/GYN choices.  I use Dr. Paul Kradel, he is awesome!  But I know you could choose too, go to www.cooperclinic.com and you can look at physicians on category and by name.  Dr. Haraway is very nice, all the ladies love Torres and then there is Dr. Riche and both Dr. Phillips.

Good luck,

AB

Thank you AB! I really pray it does not come down to finding another one.  I really dont.  I just want to be "normal" again. :-)

Hi Angie, I see Rosie Seguine, she's in LR in the Doctor's Building on University.  She's about 50 or so, funny, to the point and VERY good.  She's WLS friendly too, which is nice cause some Dr's aren't. She was highly recommended to me by a nurse who used to work for her. Take care

Hi Susan, Since she is WLS friendly does that mean she understands that we do not absorb pain meds etc?  or what do you mean by WLS friendly?  That building is accross from St. Vincents hospital right? Thanks for your help. Angie

Yes, it's that building across from St Vincent's .  By WLS friendly, I mean she's always been supportive of what I've done (she's a little chubby herself, so there's an understanding there, too) but as far as meds go, she's open and willing to try different things. When it comes to Rx's when I'm talking to any doctor, instead of assuming they know about our "issues" with certain meds (and possibly offending their tender egos) I always ask :"now is this something that my malabsorbtion issues won't interfere with? Gives them a chance to think about it and a possible way out of it if it isn't something that will work for us. Also, it opens the door for them to explain more to us if necessary. Take care....off to work I go!

You know Susan,  I am going to write that quote down!  I think I offended every single doctor I talk to when I tell them I do not absorb meds like "normal" folks.
