OKAY Already with the Hair Loss!

I am a little over 6 months and began losing my hair about 3 months and am still losing a little each day now.  I am using the Nioxin hair product and taken Biotin in hope that it helps with the new growth.  I use to have very thick medium length hair, but have cut it short to help with the very, very thin hair.  I cannot stand being able to see my scalp; I know the hair will grow back..I just want it back now!  I have read others say the hair stopped shedding around 6-7 months, is this true for most?  I know its petty but I miss my hair.  I do not however miss the weight I have lost...so, I guess I have to take the bad with the good.

I was completely paranoid about losing my hair! I've always had thin hair so I started even before surgery using the Nioxin (didn't work very well for me) and at my first check up, Dr. Gibbs told me to try using the vitamins Hair, Skin and Nails. You can find them at Wal-Mart and they have worked for me really well. They have biotin in it but also some other vitamins that are beneficial for hair growth as well. They have worked for me. I don't know that it's any thicker but I haven't lost much either. They are seriously called Hair Skin and Nails - they are in a pinkish color bottle. AT

I knew I would be losing hair after surgery, but never thought I would loss as much as I have.  I lost hair when I had my c-section 3 years ago and was basing the hair loss on it.  Little did I know I would be seeing my scalp?  It’s a big change from very thick hair; but it will be growing back.  I think I’ll try the vitamins-Hair,Skin & Nails.  Thanks for the info

My hair didn't shed, mine fell out by the hand fulls.  I had bald spots so badly that I just shaved it off.  My doctor said that some people just respond more strongly with the hair loss.  I still go through times when my hair falls out.  I have never been good about getting all of my protein in, so when I notice it falling out, I try to do better.  I found that keeping my hair really short is best.

Shaved your head?  You are a gutsy person!  I will be upping my protein to see if that also helps with the shedding.

Mine fell out in long strips.   It wasn't really noticeable to others, and I cold onyl see my scalp if I brushed my hair certain ways (usually when I was showing my roomie where it was falling out at).  Most people didn't notice it, but I did.  I didn't have thick hair but it was not thin by any means either.  Before surgery I made the bold move to cut my hair, I felt it would be easier to handle, plus it was summer and I was not able to brush and do my own hair anymore due to its length.  I had 16 inches cut off, my ponytails at that time were very thick.  Now my ponytails are thin like my grandma's.  I don't think it will ever get thick like before but my hair is growing back, I can see baby hair coming in the last few months, cause when I wake up I have short hairs sticking up everywhere, and if the weather is right, they are curly to, I think my baby hair is a good way to tell the humidity outside, haha. My hairless started slow, I think within a few months of surgery and at it's worse, I could fill my hairbrush up and when running shampoo/conditioner through my hair my hands would be covered in hair, I saved a lot of the hair at first and took pics of it to keep track of how much was coming out.  When I upped my protein and started being more diligent with vitamins it all slowed down that most times I barely see any hair in my brush or hands anymore.

Thanks Eve for sharing your hair loss experience.  I went and got my hair cut today and my hairdresser was making a big deal about all the new hair.  So, it’s growing back…  She is one of my best friends, so she knows I’ve been bummed about it shedding.
