Hey All, I have been a lurker of the Arkansas Forum since August of 2007 and no longer will I be lurking.  I am coming out!   My RYN was 10 months ago and I have grown complacent.  It was a lot of fun in the beginning when I was losing 5 - 7 pounds a week, but now it is 3 - 5 pounds a month.  I have seen many of you post about changing things up to get different or better results.  I have decided to change things up and participating in the forum is one of the changes that I am making.   43 pounds to go and I am not stopping till I have won the war so I am enlisting your help.        Thanks for the support, smiles, and strength you have given me over the last 10 months...........I look forward to becoming an active participant.   Heather "I use to be Snow White, but I drifted" - Mae West

Hi Heather, and welcome So glad you decided to stop lurking and join us.  Maybe we will be able to offer some suggestions to help you get things going again. First of all, we need to know what you're doing now, like how many calories you're getting a day, how much protein, exercise, etc.  Lots of times when you at the 10-12 month stage things start to slow down, so "shaking things up" sometimes gets the scale moving again.  If you want to PM me some of your typical days food, that's fine too.  Whatever I can do to help. Gotta go to work now, but I'll be back this evening

Susan

WELCOME HEATHER!!! I am SOOO glad that you are coming out! I had RNY 9 months ago, so you are 1 month out past me.  I think it DOES get harder as we get months and months out to be toally compliant.  I think when we get closer to goal it is harder not to become complacent as well.   I personally fight becoming complacent all the time, especially now that I am so close to goal.  I'm having to fight that part of me that thinks, "Okay, now I'm skinny.  I can start eating whatever I want again."  So I can totally understand what you are saying.   I am also losing less now that I was previously.  These last 5 pounds have just creeped off, as opposed to falling off the way they would before.  I'm only 1.8 pounds from my 140 pound goal and I figure it will take me 2 weeks to lose that at the rate I'm losing now (about 1/2 pound a week).  It's really frustrating! Hang in there!  We can do it!   Keep us posted!  I look forward to hearing from you more! Wen

Hi Heather, I stalled out big time between 10 & 12 months out from surgery.  I'm now 16 months out and have reached my goal of 135lbs. and have maintained that weight for almost two months now.  What did I do to get my weight loss started again?  I ate more....I know, that sounds crazy, but I needed more calories to kickstart my metabolism again.  Feel free to PM me if you want some ideas, or reply on here.  Congrats on your loss so far!

Thanks Denise for sharing.  My surgeon is not surprised that I have slowed to about 5 pounds per month at this point.  I have started journaling my food intake this past week and consume about 700 calories a day.  I am going to increase my caloric intake a bit and see what happens.  My local MD had made the suggestion of increasing my calories last week, too.

Heather,  that's about where I was calorie wise too, I stayed between 650 & 750 calories.  I bumped it up to around 900 and the weight started coming off again...it was slow but steady until I reached my goal.  I eat between 1200 & 1300 calories now and so far I'm maintaining.   Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
