Question of the day! *Tuesday*
What hobby have you picked back up since surgery? If you have not had surgery or you are early post op, what hobby do you plan on picking up or resuming?
What hobby would you like to start?
I always TOOK pictures. I hated to have my picture taken because of my weight! I found myself hiding behind the camera for YEARS!! I was known to my family as the girl with the camera!
Since surgery, I actually like to have my picture taken and laugh! At our Ladies Banquet the other night I had someone take my group pictures and then also of me and my family! I remember feeling aquard on the other end of the camera. WOW MOMENT! I am so thankful for WLS!
What about you? Next?

Hey Rhonda! I totally agree with the whole picture taking issue. I never liked having my picture taken before. I am still not exactly crazy about it but I don't run every time I see a camera either! Its weird!
Anyway, I never really quit doing anything hobby-wise because of my weight other than going to the lake in the summer. We have a boat and I loved going out on the lake and tubing and swimming and all that fun summer stuff. But then when my weight got higher and higher, I became too self-conscious to go out on the water because I didn't want anyone to see me like that! Now that I am about 120 lbs lighter, I am thinking that this summer is going to be LOTS of FUN with LOTS of time spent on the water! Hopefully anyway!
Good question! What about everyone else?
Karen
So Karen, I understand about the water!! We have a pool at our house and rarely did I ever swim when there were people there. Usally it was at night! Not that I look great in a swimsuit now or anything, but I will swim more this year! I actually bought a size 12 swimsuit and can probably go to a 10 soon. Don't you just love the way we feel now! I love my energy, and also how active I am now! I feel as tho I have a 2nd chance at life again! Thanks for sharing!
Eliza,
I remember when I realized " CAN RUN AGAIN" ! It was a new freedom that still to this day I don't take for granted! I spend time on the treadmill in the afternoons (when it was cold outside), now I fool around with pictures on my computer.
I remember the 1st time I ran from the mailbox to my back door.....it's about 350 yards! Boy was I tired!

Not a new hobby for me by any means, but Im a fishing fool!!!!! Cant stay off of the Crick (creek) bank, or pond bank, find myself wanting to drop a line in the mud puddle in the road, HA HA HA!!! I WANT to take up running if we can get my health lined out. My goal is a 5k next April. In the mean time, my newest hobby is enjoying life for the first time in a very long time. I cannot remember the last time I thought, "its a pretty day, I think I 'll go outside and play"
Thats where Im headed now, back to the pond to do some more perch jerking.
Hugs,
Rhonda D, the fishing fool
Rhonda,
We live accross the street from the lake and rarely fi****hat should be illegal!!! We talked about trying to fish more this summer. Sometime I sneak off and drop a line in the afternoon. I got a couple of buddies that like to go also. My Daddy was a great Bass Fisherman but by my heart belongs to Bream! It is so relaxing (when your not pullin' em out).
Wonderful hobby and great relaxation! not to mention awesome food!
So, you go you fishin' fool!

I'm only 2 months post-op but hopefully before too long, I would like to start taking dance lessons. When I was younger I loved to 2-step, 3-step, cotton-eye-joe, sq dance, and line dance, but as the weight went up the more I sat out. I'm walking everyday and I park my car far away from my office building and walk 3 flights of stairs to my office everyday (no elevators for me!!!). So, I'm hoping I'll find my way to dancing again; it was so enjoyable...
Walking is very good for you. I am proud you take the stairs.....I try to take the stairs when I can. Funny how before surgery we would drive around for 5 min. looking for the closest parking spot and now we deliberately park far off! Keep walking because you will need those muscles when you start dancing again! You keep on keeping on and you will be our next "Dancin' Queen" or would you rather be a "Dancin' Diva" ?
Great Goal! Thanks for sharing with us!
