Still waiting

Hi everyone.  Well, i''m still waiting to get a surgery date.  I have gone through every conceivable medical test known to man.  I am now the proud owner of a cpap machine since they diagnosed sleep apnea.  It's already making a big difference in my life.  Anyway, they are supposed to view all my test results and records on Monday so hopefully I'll be meeting with Dr. Roller soon.  I am so nervous about all of this I just want to get the surgery part behind me and get on with it.  I'm not covered by either of my insurances, so I dn't need any approvals from them.  I am worried that I have only lost 2 lbs and the dietician told me she wants me to lose 15.  Between struggling with not eating because of nerves or quitting smoking, i''m going nuts.  Any advice?

Sybul,

I know it is hard to both lose weight and quit smoking.  My son had to lose quite a bit of weight so that he would be small enough to even get the surgery.  He did liquid protein shakes and and when he wanted food, he ate only meat.  I suppose the protein diet made it easy to drop the weight.  Can you walk?  If so, I'd suggest trying to walk as much as possible.  As far as the quitting smoking, can you do the patches or the gum?  That might help relieve some of the stress from being without the nicotine.

good luck

I'm back on the Chantix again.  That's helping.  I do need to get moving and I know that.  I've decided to start spraying myself down with Off and walking when I get home in the evenings.  That should help relieve some of the anxiety I'm having waiting to get the surgery over with too.  I go to Springdale today for a followup from the sleep study so I plan to pop in at Dr. Roller's office and see how things are progressing.  Thanks for the support.

I live in Fayetteville.  The next time you make the trip up this way, give me a yell and we'll meet for coffee.

I worked on this process for just about a year and a half.  Horrible ordeals with Ins, referrals, denials,  I almost gave up several times.  My R-N-Y was last Monday.  I cannot possibly tell you how great it feels to be home, and already SEE a difference in clothing.  I popped into my office this morning and the response was so overwhelming I had to close my office door and gather myself/cry a little << very hard for a 38 year old man to admit.  Stay the course, if my first introduction back into society was any indication, this is really going to be a fun part of a very hard journey.
