Homemade RNY Post-op Pizza: Attempt 1
Okay. I miss pizza. I know it is one of the worst foods ANY human can possibly eat - but sometimes I do miss it. So I have decided that I can and WILL find a healthy alternative if I have to make it myself.
So this morning (yes for breakfast - but who cares I ate cold pizza for breakfast all the time when I was younger), I made my first atttempt at making a healthy pizza. It was OKAY. Not superb, but OKAY. I'm going to have to work on it some more.
I used:
Tumaro's Multi-Grain Gourmet Tortilla (cut into 4ths to make 4 little pizzas)
Generic Pizza Sauce (1 tbsp on each 4th slice of tortilla)
Hormel Turkey Pepporoni (6 slices on each 4th slice of tortilla)
Generic Mozzerella cheese (1/8 cup on each 4th slice of tortilla)
I baked it at 350 until done (less than 10 minutes).
Each 4th is less than 1/2 cup (less than 8 tablespoons) total (for those Baker babies out there who are far enough out to use that as a maximum meal guideline) and has:
99.71 calories
4.79 fat
3.5 net carbs
9.18 protein
I'm going to work on it some more to get that fat % down to acceptable levels (use fat free mozzerella next time, etc). I'll keep y'all posted in case anyone cares. LOL
Wendy,
Sounds good, I like beef or sausage, I bet turkey sausage would be good on it. I love pizza, and have on occasion splurged!! Eat thin crust, 1/2 slice w/toppings from the whole slice. I just wish the pizza places would reduce the fat, gosh, all that grease is so gross now!!! Funny how our perception changes.
Im off to a birthday party at the barn, for a 10 year old. Should be entertaining. Its an all day, gather and be social affair.
Have a good one, and let us know how the other variations come out.

P.S. Mike said he missed your daughter the other night, he didnt have anyone to play word search with!!! LOL
