Back home!
Well you guys, I'm officially banded! My surgery was at 1:30 on Monday. They had to give me phenergan for nausea when I woke up, so I was out until about 8 that night. So, I had to do my barium swallow the next morning. Then it took forever to get the results, so I was on ice chips until 11 a.m. Tuesday. Lauren Hill was not happy about that, so she immediately sent for my clear liquid diet tray. I've held everything down, but have NO desire, whatsoever, to eat anything (full liquids, I mean). Right now I'm sipping water, low-cal gatorade, and an HMR shake. How nice it would be to feel this tight restriction for the rest of my life!!!
I'm still feeling pain when I try to move. The hydrocodone makes me feel better, but I get sleepy when I take it. I'm supposed to go back to school tomorrow, but I really can't see that happening! I just started teaching 6th grade at a christian school on Thursday . I told my boss that I would need to be off until Thursday of this week, but I'm afraid that if I call her to tell her I need more time, she'll think bad of me. Anyone have any wonderful advice for me? I love you all!

Congratulations Karen! I was wondering how you were doing! I know what you mean about the tight restriction right after surgery! Its so nice! Too bad it doesn't last. However, my last fill was a good fill and it was that way for almost four months. I go back on the 9th for a fill. Hopefully, it will last me another four months! Take care of yourself and keep us posted on how you are doing!!

P.S. I didn't know you were a teacher?? Thats cool! Two Karen's that are both teachers....NEAT-O!!
Congratulations on getting the surgery in time. Everyone has told me you have to take enough time off to heal. I'm not sure, but I would think you need off until Monday..but not sure how your job would feel. My friend is a teacher..and I swear, she's taking off about 6 weeks every year for some health issue..they never seem to have a problem with her doing that. You just have to take care of you first..no doubt about it. Maybe just talk to your principal and see what they say.
Can't wait to join you on the losers bench!
