Oh my gosh! I'm getting really nervous! My surgery is on Monday (2 days away)!!! It seems like it took forever to get to this point and now it is flying by so quickly! I am not regretting my decision at all. I'm just a little nervous about having surgery alone. My mom will drop me off on Sunday evening because she will have my four children while I'm in the hospital. My sister works graveyard on Sunday night, so she will make the 2 1/2 hr drive when she gets off. Prayerfully, she will make it there to be with me before I go into surgery! Someone please tell me that it's not so bad while you wait for them to take you into surgery! I've always been a strong person, so I wasn't worried about it at all until the time is almost here for me to leave! I need lots of advice! I am staying in the Plaza so I will be able to walk over Monday morning. Although I'm not really sure excactly where the Plaza is located. I guess I'lll find out tomorrow! Does anyone know what they do with your personal belongings when you go into surgery?  I know I have lots of questions. Thanks for the advice! Karen

Karen, you will do great.  I really didn't have to wait very long before being taken into surgery.  You are taken back, asked questions and prepping begins---this was at Baptist.  As far as for your personal items they ask you not to bring them until you are in your room.  Just ask someone at the desk, more than likely there is somewhere you can store your items until your sister gets there.  You are given a bag to put the clothes you are wearing.  Best wishes and speedy recovery!

I brought my needlework with me and worked on it in the waiting room, but once your in the back, in the pre-op (where they get you ready, but not where they put you under) you stay kind of busy for the first half hour to hour with dr's and nurses coming in and out getting you ready but after that I got nervous (only for a little bit) while waiting to go to the room where they put you under, but I was only awake in there for like 1 minute, they brought me in, had me get on this other bed and put a mask on and told me to breathe and I don't remember anything else.  You will do okay, it isn't as scary as you might think.
