Todays question is..... What is your goal for yourself for the summer?? Is there something you have always wanted to do but couldnt but plan to now that you have this new life here? I want to take up running, I have NEVER been able to run, so my goal is to begin a running program, and my long term w/that is to run  a 5K in April of next year.  We have a festival here in Fordyce, this week actually, and they run a 5 K on Saturday morning, next year, I'll be in that race.  I may not be first place, but it will be a first place for me. Lets all think about this and answer, so that at the end of the summer we can look back and see what we did accomplish!!! Hugs, Rhonda, the running one!!

Ok my summer goal is not near as good as yours but its something that I have always wanted to do. When we were little kids, my parents always took my brother and I to some sort of theme park every summer. We have traveled allover the United States and been to some great places. Now that we are all grown up, we don't go to the theme parks nearly as often. We have been doing other types of vacations.  Anyway, the summer before last, I went with my best friend to take her daughter to Magic Springs. I was not able to ride on some of the rides because of my size. It was absolutely humiliating and I felt awful. It hurt to know that my size was keeping me from doing some of the same things that I loved when I was a kid. Also, there were so many people around me who were my age who were laughing and having a great time and I was miserable! I went home that night and cried and vowed that no matter what that I would go back and be able to ride any ride there. The next summer, I had WLS surgery and have lost about 105 lbs (maybe a little more now....been a while since I have weighed!!) Well I think I can do that now!! So my goal for this summer is to go back to Magic Springs and ride all the rides with my friend's daughter! I'lll let you guys know how that one turns out here in a few months!  Thanks for listening! Have a great day!   Karen

I've got lots of goals for the summer:

*take my boy to Wild River Country and be able to go up those hills MUCH easier than last summer

*ride the rides w/ him at the fair this year

*walk, walk, walk, and then maybe run

*walk the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure in Little Rock without wanting to lay down and die!

Well, that's enough for now.

Susan G Komen, wow!!!!  That is so exciting, I cant wait to get active this summer like I have never been before. Fair rides are like the ones at Magic Springs, used to not fit, now I do.  Actually cant wait till that time of year now. Look out Arkansas, lots of active women on the loose!!!

Karen, I went last year, and I was 5 months out, and I fit in all the rides, had a blast, walked the hills w/no effort and it was HOT.  It made me feel so good.  You will be so proud of yourself when the day is done, tired, but elated. Let us know how it goes. Rhonda D.

October of this year is the Susan G. Komen race for the cure. I walk EVERY year. Last year I was 6 months out and felt great! This year I plan on running! Maybe not all the way but at least most of the way. I have a team that walks together every year. Some of them, last year, made the comment I would run off & leave them next year. About 8 girls off the team are running with me this year.
Other than that, my goal is to double the laps in the pool I can swim. I stay so cold all the time, I hope my pool warms up early this year. Last year I did not get into the pool until July. I had an infection in my incision and Doc would not let me ge tin the water. When I did get in the pool, he made me take it easy!
I also want to ride my bike a couple times a week! This should allow me to loose the other 35 lbs I need to get rid of . Lots of goals....Lots to loose!
Huggs,

I am 17 months out from lap band, and I ran my 1st 5K this weekend in Springdale.  I started training about 8 weeks ago with a group called Women run Arkansas.  Take small bites and increase your running time every week.  I have lost 131 lbs and did the 5k in 42.09.  You can do this.

Oh how you have just inspired me!!!!  I cant wait to start, I found a website that you type in your training time and it breaks it all down for you day by day.  Since I have not ever run before, Im going to do the 4 month training, give myself plenty of time.  The heat is also going to be a factor in my training, but hey, if I can fish for 3 hours today in the sun, I can run, right??? Thanks again, I'll keep the board updated.

My first goal is to have my surgery on June 16th. 2nd..to be able to do my job..(I'm a city letter carrier) as soon as possible.  Then after that..I want to be healthier and slimmer when my hubby and I go on our "real" honeymoon in November of this year.  I want to be able to do whatever I want. on that trip...without getting tired and feeling self-concious.
