Hello Folks, My name is Terri Lynn. I live in Lincoln, AR. I will be 36 next month, married, no children and I am approx 60 BMI. I have been overweight at least half my life with loads of medical issues that keep popping up. After a change in doctor's I was finally told (even though I knew it already) I needed to loose weight,  And with my medical history and current health, my family doctor gave me options one being Bariatric Surgery other being if I continued as I am the results would not be a happy. So after some talking with my hubby we came to the decision it was time and he would fully support me in this. I also have the support of my family and friends. After extensive research (gotta love the internet ) and refferals and limited insurance (Medicare/Medicaid), I have decided on Dr. John Baker. And we have go the ball rolling. But there is still so many things I have to prepare and get used to. I am still searching for a certified individual to doing my pysch who takes Medicare/Medicaid, a support group, and so much more that when I can remember them I will be sure to mention them as needed. Well that's all I can think of for now. I hope to get know more folks on here and be more of a talker on here . Terri Lynn

Hi, Terri Lynn. My name is Tina and I live in Hot Springs.  I am in the same boat as you. After fighting with DHS for so long I now have medicaid. The only place I know of that does the psych evaluations that also take medicare/medicaid is UAMS.  But, be prepared for a couple month wait. I hope everything works out great for you and keep us informed. Ask any question you want. The regulars on this forum are absolutely wonderful about giving hope and advise.

Hi Terri Lynn! I'm Wendy (or Wen, whichever you prefer) and I live near Hot Springs Village.   I'm a Baker baby too!  I started at 255.4 (BMI was 42.4) and I had open RNY (so he could take my gall bladder at the same time) on 08/20/07.  Last week I weighed in at about 150 (BMI now 24.9 at 150).  I'm still losing and want to get to around 140 I think.  Congratulations on beginning your journey!   If your psych consult is going to take a couple of months to get, just start working on all your other stuff while you wait on the appointment for that!  That way you won't lose any time!   Good luck!  Can't wait to see you ont he losers bench!   Wen

Hi Terry Lynn!  Welcome.  I am still pre-op..but I have a surgery date of June 16.  I'm going for the band but my daughter is planning to have surgery this summer in Baltimore and is considering the RNY...She's having to go thru lots of hoops since she has University student insurance.  I am on this site most everyday...and I've learned a lot from these dear people.  They are all a great inspiration that it can be done!   Thanks for posting,  I for one, need to hear from all I can.. Greetings Terri Lynn!! Welcome to the site. My name is Ann and I live right outside of Hot Springs. My doctor is Dr. Baker and he is a very caring doctor. Everything he does is for your own well being. He comes very highly recommended.  I had gastric on April 2nd. So I'm not very far out. But let me tell you, the folks on this site are some of the most caring and supportive people you will ever talk to. And they can give you some very good advice. All you have to do is ask. Take this time that you have coming up and do research on whatever kind of surgery you want to have. The OH site has a lot of really good information on it. The more prepared you are going into this, the better off you will be. I wish you the best of luck on this journey and don't be a stranger. Let us know how it is going.

Ann
