April 28!!!
Wow! I am so excited! Dr. Baker's office did a wonderful job of fitting me in before my insurance coverage is cancelled. I am so grateful to God for allowing me to have this surgery! I have waited six long years for this. All I can say for the ones fighting insurance companies is for them not to give up!!! If I'd have known that it would take me six years, I might've given up, but look at what I would've lost out on!!!
Congratulations Karen!
Does your insurance run out all together on the 30th or is it just the bariatric coverage that runs out? They are still going to cover your (usually 3 day) hospital stay aren't they? Are they going to cover your post-op check-ups? Just wondering.
Even after my insurance stopped covering bariatric surgery (they only did it one year - last year), they still cover my post-op check-ups at their standard check-up rate.
It's my insurance that runs out on the 30th. But it's my secondary insurance company, so I'll still have BCBS of MS (they had an exclusion in my policy). I don't know if they'll cover any of the follow-ups. Maybe they will since he's considered a general surgeon instead of a bariatric surgeon. I sure hope so. And I'm having Lap-Band, so I will only be in the hospital one night. Hooray!!!
It sure does. But you know what? Now I'm nervous about all of it! I guess it's just because I don't have much support. I'm supposed to go to my consult with Dr. Baker on Wednesday with my husband, but now my husband can't go. My mom's out of town, my sister has a meeting with her employer, and my best friend doesn't support me. I haven't told anyone else because when I mentioned it years ago, they didn't think it was a good idea. So, I'm stuck. I don't know if Dr. Baker will do the surgery if I don't have anyone with me at the consult. What do you think? My mom will be back on the 21st and she supports me, but I don't know if that helps matters since she can't be there. Help!!!
