Good Morning everyone!!!  I received my paperwork from Ar. Rehab and the very first thing that it states on the checklist is a BMI of 55 or greater.  Mine is 48.  Do you think I should go ahead and fill out the paperwork, or not even waste my time?? I am still determined that I am going to get SOME help with paying for surgery.  I just feel like there are too many people that have had the surgery and I know not all of them have $15,000 plus laying around or can finance that amount. Do you think I am just waisting my time????

HI! If I were you, I would go ahead and fill out the paperwork! It can't hurt. All they can do is say no. If you don't fill it out, then you will never know what might have been! Hope it all works out for you!   Karen

I agree with Karen! Especiallyif you have other problems like, high Bp, sleep apnea, diabetes, reflux or gerd, anything that this surgery would help!
One thing, If you don't fill it out....YOU WILL NOT get the surgery!
Go ahead, you ARE WORTH IT!

I am trying to have the surgery through Arkansas Rehab as well.  My case manager/counselor told me that the BMI of 55 or higher is an absolute must.   I don't say this to discourage you-- I say this because I have been jumping through hoops for months trying to get everything squared away with Arkansas Rehab in the way of paperwork and whatnot.  It has been emotionally taxing and has taken a great deal of personal time and resources (for instance, I am paying for my consultation tomorrow out of pocket so my paperwork will all be in order in July when their funds are renewed).  There is a lot to the process.  I would suggest you talk with your counselor and be very direct-- ask right out if you still have a chance even if your BMI is not above 55.   It would be horrible for you to jump through months of hoops only to discover that they would deny because of a not-hig-enough BMI.  That's the sort of thing you could find out early in the process. Best wishes, Helen
