OT: I need some sunshine and heat!!!!!!!
Hi Tammy,
I have been on a mission with my pcp about vitamin d. He insists on giving me the little green 50,000 iu gel caps and can't understand why my D level keeps dropping. So, here's my little lecture I gave him and what I'm doing about my extremely low level.
Vitamins A,D, E and K are all fat soluble vitamins that are only absorbed in the part of the intestine that we have had bypassed. For us to take these little gems is a waste of time and money. While they keep prescribing them, our levels keep dropping and all they do is scratch their heads. The prescribed dose is 50,000 iu (international units) three times a week.
Vitalady.com carries a DRY form of vitamin D-3 in a capsule which we CAN absorb. You don't need a prescription and they cost $25 for a bottle of 100. I took my bottle to my doctor two weeks ago and he was surprised that I figured this out on my own,.,,,,well, DUH!!!! If he can't figure it out I HAD to!
I had my labs drawn two weeks ago and it has to be sent to a lab in Texas for the D level, so we're still waiting for the results. I'm betting my dog (the old one who gets us up at 3:30 a.m.) that my levels will have improved.
I, too, hope to see some sunshine soon, but only so I can wear my cute new clothes I got for my B'day. Hope things are better for you today, keep up the good work.
Love ya bunches,
Susan
Come on down to my neck of the woods! We've been topping out at nearly 80 degrees for several days now...its 77 right now. We do have the wind though, I had go searching for one of the cushions from my front porch chair the other day...it made it all the way into the back yard! Now the pollen has given everything a lovely sheen of yellow...ugh!
My hubby was somewhat close to you all last week. He and another officer were in Bentonville all week for a Child Passenger Safety Certification training class...he now knows more than he ever wanted to know about child safety seats...but he's a trained technician. He said it was cold, wet, and windy and was glad we didn't live up there!
Hope you're enjoying at least some of the clothes! Take care...
I so feel your pain, we have warm, but we have muggy and warm and YELLOW!!!! Since asthma is a disease and not an illness I still have to be careful outdoors. This is the time of year that I sit inside and dream of being outdoors, I think Im gonna buy some tanning visits for the vit d, since I cant go outside for long periods of time, besides the fact that no one wants to see me looking whiter than a fish belly in my little shorts hubby buys for me.
Ya'll take care, I'll be around some, trying to stay busy to combat the depression I battle due to my health issues we still have no answers of.
Sneezes to you all,
Rhonda D. (who is gonna own stock in Kleenex)
