Hey Guys, My rheumatologist prescribe a medication called Lyrica for my fibromayalgia last week.  I understand one of the side effects is weight gain;but, that it is suppose to be a remarkable drug to combat the chronic pain.  Anybody familiar with this?  Jan

I am on Lyrica due to nerve damage in my right leg brought on by obesity. It is a miracle drug as far as pain management but it does cause weight gain. I gained almost 40 pounds when I started it. It has since leveled off but the original weight gain is massive. Whether it is worth it or not will have to be a personal decision taking into consideration how much pain you are in. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks SassyMomma for the heads up.  I really don't understand how a medicine can make you gain weight-unless you're eating more.  Does it just make you hungrier or is i****er weight?  Surely if you're careful about the way you eat you can control some of the weight gain.  I'm at the point though if it makes me feel better I'm willing to try it.....getting old sucks!!!   I guess I'll give it a try and see what happens.  Hey, I see your from Hot Springs...my husband and I have a condo at Mtn Harbor just down the road.  Thanks again.  Jan
