Vacation !

My entire family has rented a house in Orlando for the week of June 7th but my lap band surgery is scheduled for April 24 which is just over 6 weeks prior to that.  From all your experiences do you think I will feeling like a week in Florida by that time? I'm not really worried about being healed from the surgery, I'm just more or less concerned that maybe I wont have my new diet down by then. how long after surgery before you got your first fill? I know I wouldn't want to have a bad stuck or need an unfill and be that far away.... any advice? Mary

Hi Mary Lou!! Yes, you should be fine for Florida by then. As far as soreness, you're right....you will be perfect by then! As far as food and fills go, that depends. My surgeon made me come back at 2 weeks for a check up and then again at 6 weeks for my first fill. If I were you, I would talk to your doctor about having your fill at seven weeks rather than the taditional six weeks. That way, you can enjoy Florida without having to be nervous about what you are eating. In all honesty though, your first fill probably won't affect how and what you are eating that much. Its usually very little fluid put in so you don't have much restriction. Its not until the third or fourth fill that you can actually tell that the band has been tightened. At least, thats what it was in my case. Someone else might have had different experiences. Anyway, hope this helps you a little!!   Karen
