4 days left and scared s&*^(@#$%

My surgery is Tuesday and I already can't sleep.  I have never been put completely under.  I am freaking out seriously.  I have this fear of dying on the operation table...... why???? I'll never know.  I am not as large as a lot, but have that fear.  I have 1 child and 3 others I am raising.  I guess that is where it is all coming from.  I am very swollen today, my stomach is messed up..... could it be nerves, the diet?  I need to hear some experiences from  surgery... I am having the lap-band.  I need to know good and bad..... I know crazy, but I have to feel prepared

I know how you feel. My surgery is Wednesday. And as it gets closer I am getting more and more nervous. I have been put under, but I totally understand your fear. Will I wake up? It is scary. But I'm sure you will do fine. My stomach is messed up too. These crazy shakes....yuck!!! Well, anyway, just wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you and am sure everything will go just great.

I was wondering if you could tell me where you got your shakes? Dr Baker's office told me that I could get them from his office or online. Becky said that it would probably be cheaper for me to get them online than to drive all the way to LR (2 1/2 hrs away). Could you tell me where you got yours and which shakes to buy? I went to the official website and they had several types. Thanks so much.

Karen, I got mine from Dr. Baker's office when I went in for my consult. I didn't know you could buy them online. And they might be cheaper online. I don't know. At Dr. Baker's office they only offer vanilla and chocolate. They are the HMR800's. I don't know what kind you are looking for. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. Hope you find them cheaper.

Hi there, Everything you're feeling is perfectly normal. In fact, if you weren't feeling nervous, I'd wonder about you!!!  Believe me, I'm facing surgery # 12 and 13 and I still get nervous before hand.  I can tell you when you get checked in to the hospital and start the IV,  your doctor will most likely have ordered anxiety medication to be on board. You'll start to feel like you have had a margarita or two, they'll wheel you to surgery and get you positioned on the table, then they'll have you breathe deeply into a mask. The next thing you know it will all be over and you'll be in recovery. As far as your stomach being bloated, I don't have an answer to that, but if you still feel this way on Monday, I'd call your doctor's office. Are you constipated, maybe?  Hmmmm.   Sorry, no answers. That is what scares me..is someone saying this is their 12th or 13th surgery.  I am not ready mentally to have any surgery yet..even though I"ve been approved.  I told Dr. Gibb's office that I wanted to wait.  They had no problem with that.  Said they would keep my file and I could contact them when I'm ready.  I think it's the possibility of more surgery or more health issues that scares me more than anything..but I appreciate all of the message boards.  I read them like crazy.  Who knows...maybe I"ll be ready by summer.  Maybe not ;)  In the meantime I will keep reading what you all have to say...my daughter will be going thru RNY this summer.  So between her and I ...I want to know all I can know..

Good luck ladies!!  Feeling nervous is normal...I was a nervous wreck!  They must have given me some sort of anxiety stuff (I don't remember being told anything about it) b/c after I was hooked up to my IV...the nervousness went away & I was ready to get in there & get it over with.  They will take good care of you & we'll all be waiting to hear that you are home & doing well!  GOOD LUCK!
