what's been up w/me

Sandy, it's for people like you, new to this whole thing, that I've stayed away, afraid that what I had to say would discourage someone. Well, like Tammy says, you newbies have to hear the truth, good,  bad, or ugly from us "old timers" to know what to expect and look out for on this crazy journey. None of it is so bad that I would ever tell someone that I wouldn't do this all over again, so I guess that's the test.....would I do this again knowing then what I know now. Yep, twice if I had to. Here is a new forum you might find helpful.  http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/mhp/ It is a forum for mental health problems centering around WLS.  I am sorry you aren't having the luck you would hope for with JoBeth.  She is a great dietian and very knowledgable.  She knows her stuff.  I know it is hard to hear what our nuts and Dr. have to tell us sometimes but they are on your side and are trying to help.  I hope you get better soon. Hi Jan, Thank you for the link, I will check it out.  As far as JoBeth goes, I know she is the top in her field here in AR, and I've felt we've had a good patient/professional relationship in the last 18 months. She has always answered questions for me, guided me along the road, and yes, even told me things that I didn't want to hear. My problem with what she said to me wasn't as much as WHAT, but WHEN.  I lost 12 lbs in a month after four months steady at goal, from being sick. I begged her to help with healthy suggestions for me to regain some of that weight and she didn't help me at all because I'm in my normal BMI.  It was the mixed message of "you're such and inspiration /success story" to "you need to see a counselor"  in the same paragraph that upset me. Which am I?  Successful or obsessed?  To be honest, when I read her e-mail to my husband, he said it sounded like she didn't care to help me anymore at all and was trying to pawn me off to another professional. I'm curious, I've never seen you here on this board before and there isn't anything on your profile to tell me who you are.  Are you new here, and how do you know JoBeth??  I know there are some staff members from local doctors offices that read the boards.  Hope I'm not spilling my guts to the wrong person and risk what I'm saying being taken the wrong way.

No Susan I am not a spy, goodness I was only trying to help you.  I lurk on the over 50's board that is where I saw you.  I came to the AR board looking for a woman I met at a college in Ar.  I am not new to OH had surgery over 2 1/2 years ago.  I had an old profile and when I tried to change over to the new format I lost all of my info and pictures.  I know JoBeth from WLS meetings.  I was not promoting her or attacking you.  I was trying to help, I wont try again.  Sorry

I'm so sorry you took what I said the wrong way!  I was only concerned because once before there was a topic we were discussing here, go****'s been over a year now, and one of the doctor's nurses actually came on and read me the riot act for stating my opinion about something. JoBeth has been so helpful to me that I wouldn't want her to get the wrong impressions of what I've said. I appreciate your help and suggestions, and again, I'm sorry if offended you, I didn't mean it that way at all.  When we're chatting online we can't hear inflections in speech or hear tones.....the biggest drawback of the internet! I understand what you say about the profile, mine was deleted too and I'm so bad with these things all I did afterwards is  what you see now. Take care

Susan...sorry to hear about the things you are going through right now.  It will get better.  And you did not say anything wrong to Jan.  She just took it the wrong way.  You have nothing to be sorry for so dont apologize.  People read into things alot on here and you cant protect everyones feelings.  Keep your head up and keep on coming back here because we all need you. Susan, I know how you feel, the beginning of my year has been crazy too!!!!!  I hate it when the people at work come up to me and say "you are getting so skinny", WTF????  I weigh 168, wear 10-12-14, and I believe that is average correct, makes  me nuts!  I hope everything goes well and you get to feeling better.

Susan, I'm so sorry that things haven't been going well for you the last few months.  I haven't had surgery yet; but have had lots of questions.  You have always been so helpful to me in making my decisions and getting over my fears.  I appreciate the time you take to help us newcomers full of doubts and questions and only wish you the best in your journey.  I wish I could make it all go away....Jan
