I had lap band surgery in December and have only lost 14 punds. What am I doing wrong? I thought I would not be able to eat as much but I can still eat almost the same amount as before the surgery. I go back tomorrow for another fill and I am not happy with myself because I don' t think that I have lost any more weight.  Has this happened to anyone else? if so how do I get on track???

The first thing is to stay calm. You do not have restriction yet. If you can eat almost the same amout as you did before surgery you need a fill. It takes time to get to your sweet spot where you eat smaller amounts and feel full longer. You will get there it just takes time. Don't get discouraged. It just takes time. I had my lap bad Jan 25th 07 and have lost about 75 lbs. But it was really slow in the beginning until we got my fill right. I mean really slow. I even had a gain of 4 lbs once. Now I eat about a cup of food, sometimes a cup and a half, two times a day with a couple of small snacks and I'm losing 1 lb to 2 lbs a week.  You are not doing anything wrong you just don't have the right restriction yet. Go get  your fill and with each fill it will get better or miine did. Just hang in there. Like my doctor told me. It will happen, this will work for you, we just have to get you to the right fill. Good Luck!

Hi! I KNOW this is sooo FRUSTRATING. Just hang in there!! You should be losing 1-2 lbs per week but you have to have a tight fill first. Who is your surgeon? If you are going back tomorrow for a fill I would ask them how much is in your band. Also, I would stress to them that you are not satisfied and are able to eat way too much. Maybe you can ask them to put a little more fluid in than they normally do. Try not to get too discouraged! Just keep telling yourself that you CAN do this and you will SUCCEED!! Take care and let me know how it goes tomorrow!   Karen
