Sleep Apnea

I got my call today with the results of my sleep study. The normal is 5.0 anything above that is considered to have sleep apnea, I came in a whopping 5.4. I have opted to keep my machine and go for a new study the end of the month. This study will tell them how much to lower my machine. They said another 20lbs or so and I won't need the machine at all.  I realize most people would just say to heck with it at this point  BUT I still get sleepy everyday about 3 o'clock and I wake up tired so I know I need to sleep on it a while longer. He did say I am still having episodes during my sleep so that's reason enough for me to follow this thru and do what I need to do. I can see the light at the end of the tunnell and it is NOT a freight train! Stay warm! Rhonda T

rhonda, which mask do u use? i have a cpap machine and hate it, i feel like a scuba diver going to bed.. all i need is the wet suite!! i have used the nasal pillows and now have the mask that just goes around the nose, thinking of trying the  full face mask to see if that would help. I do notice that i feel alot better when i use the dern thing, just hate it so bad!

You know, I never thought of it but I did feel like a scuba diver in those nasal pillows!   I started using the full face mask and I like it a lot better.  I used to rip the nasal pillows out in the middle of the night.  I don't do that with the full face mask.

I use the nasal mask. I do not know the correct name for it. It just slips right inside my nasal cavity.  My husband uses the the mask that goes over his nose. One of my cousins has the full mask and loves it. I think it just depends on what you start out with. I do feel better when I sleep on my machine but, I am also ready to get rid of it and be free again! Rhonda T

That's great news Rhonda!!!  Congrats! My hubby has sleep apnea.  He started  using a CPAP machine around the end of last year.  He says he can really tell a difference in how he feels.

Almost there.  I'll be happy when I get off mine.  Well, technically, I'm on the Bi-pap, which is the next level up.  And since I went up to it from the C-pap, I don't get sleepy any longer.  I love mine, but I'd also like to goto bed with the drudery of filling it with water.  Blah!
