I need some help from ya'll.  I have been taking benefiber for about 1 week and stool softners for the same length of time.  I am having small bowel movements but I know that I need to be cleaned out.  Sorry I know not the best subject but I am hurting.  What suggestion do you have?  I am getting my water in and am exercising daily.

I had this same problem last month. I laid in bed for 2 days hurting.  Everytime I would go to the bathroom is would start hurting because it was to hard and big to pass.  I tried a stool softener, the kind you put in your butt.  I also had bought an enema, but thankfully the BM passed minutes before I was going to get in the shower to do the enema.  If it is really bothering you and really hurting beyond normal, you may be impacted and need to go to the ER to have it removed by a nurse.  If you feel anything like I do about someone's fingers in your butt, then you will probably be hesitant to do that, so try an enema (I had bought fleet's) and if that doesn't produce a BM by the time stated on the package, then go to the ER. Please let me know what happens.

I feel your pain!  I was in the same boat a few weeks ago...only I couldn't "go" at all!  The couple of times I did hurt like crazy.  I used Miralax and it worked like magic.  Its a powder laxative/stool softener in one and is very gentle on the tummy, no cramping or anything.  You just stir it into any beverage, it dissolves completely and doesn't change the taste...I put it in my crystal lite and couldn't tell it was in there.  It says it can take up to 3 days to work, but only took a few hours for me.  I continued to use it for a couple of days, then started adding FiberSure to my oatmeal every day and I've not had any problems since. Hope this helps....let me know if it works for you!

Go to your nearest health food store and buy some flax seeds and put a tablespoon in a bit of cream of wheat or yogurt.  It will work you without cramps and it is wonderful.  I still use it on ocassion.
