What'cha eating....Monday edition

True confession time.  Before WLS, I could gain a pound in a day just by snacking on my favorite things, which of course did not include anything healthy. So, here I am, trying to gain 5 lbs before plastics on the 12th and so, where do I turn? My old favs.  Fast food, chips, cookies(sugar free, but still full of fat). All it has done is made me feel like crap. Pure and simple, even if I try to be bad, I feel so awful I just can't do it. I have an S.O.S into JoBeth to ask her advice on how to put on a few pounds in a healthy way. Life is funny, eh?? Wake up:   Whole milk SF latte Bkfst:   Whole wheat English muffin w/ lite cream cheese and 2 deli slices of roast beef Snack:  Package of Kettle Potato Chips Had to have a pelvic ultrasound at 1:30 so had to drink 42 oz of liquids before I got there.  Well, the water didn't "make it's way" to where it needed to be, so the technician sent me to the pharmacy across the hall to get something to eat. My choice?  A package of no sugar added wafer cookies. Total grams of fat per package:  22!!!!  But it was for medical reasons Lunch:  Kid's size tuna sandwich from Subway Dinner:   Had to have salad. Wendy made me do it.   Chinese chicken salad. Best thing I had all day! Snack:    Better have a protein drink. The moral of Susan's day:  WLS works!  I could no sooner try to eat like this every day of my life again if  someone held a gun to my head to do it. Tomorrow I'm going back to eating like I should. Lesson learned. I'd rather be skinny than as miserable as I was today. Hugs to all

Today was a good day...after a couple of not so good days.  I didn't eat well for a couple of days, not terrible choices but not the best either, and it made me feel awful...both physically and mentally.  Its just not worth it anymore to eat the crap like I used to...I couldn't go back to those habits if you paid me!  So here's my day: B:  1 packet weight control oatmeal L:  chicken and rice casserole...3 oz. chicken breast, 1/4 cup whole grain wild rice, 1/4 cup whole grain brown rice, chicken flavored, 1/4 cup mixed veggies S:  small banana S:  1 cup protein pudding...white chocolate D:  4oz. rotisserie turkey tenderloin, 1/2 cup casserole from lunch minus the chicken S: protein bar or a small orange Before bed:  8oz. calorie countdown chocolate milk TOTALS: CAL:  1234...this is the most calories I've had in a day in over a year!

FAT:  26     CARBS:  156     PROTEIN:  107 Susan, how does this look to you?  The carbs are a little high, but they're all good carbs and still only 44% of my total calories.

I've had 104oz. of fluids, mostly water, today and will add another 8oz. with the milk before bed.  I've been getting dizzy with blurred vision when I stand up and my PCM says I'm dehydrated...even though I've been drinking 80oz. of fluids a day.  I thought it was low blood pressure, they tested me while lying down then sitting then standing...my pressure stayed the same but my heartrate increased every time and she said that's classic dehydration.  The moral of the story:  MAKE SURE YOU'RE GETTING MINIMUM 64OZ OF FLUIDS A DAY!  WHEN YOU THINK YOU'VE HAD ENOUGH, DRINK ANOTHER 20OZ.  I guess that explains the sudden dryness of my skin and lips too.  The dizziness has been better since I've upped my fluid intake and the blurred vision is almost completely gone...it has only happened twice today compared to about 10-12 times before...guess she was right!

Denise, I think it looks perfect!! You're doing very well, and it makes me feel better that I'm not alone in the "poor choices" club.  Glad you checked with your doc about the blood pressure. It's always better to know for sure. Our new life isn't an easy one, is it? It was very hard for me to admit what I ate today. I've tried so hard to tow the WLS line, keep to the plan, etc. Not only do I feel sick physically from what I ate, I'm embarrassed to admit it to everyone to see. Hugs

AM SHAKE: 15oz (coffee, milk, creamer and 1 scoop of Chocolate protein powder) BREAKFAST: Farina Wheat Cereal (with some blueberry yogurt for flavor) LUNCH: Michelina Lasagna (yummy) DINNER: London Broil steak (I cut it into fajita sized strips and then pan cooked it with a little olive oil spray) 1/4 C Mixed Veggies (the frozen kind, not canned) 1/8 C Stroganof Noodles SNACK: I had some dried apples and banana slices (I made them myself in a dehydrator) A few Wheat Pretzel Sticks with Sea Salt PM SHAKE: 12oz (water, wylers drink mix packet and 1 scoop Vanilla Protein Powder) LIQUIDS: 16.9 oz water, 16.9 oz water, 8oz Chocolate Milk (4oz milk, 4oz water and a squirt of sugar free chocolate syrup), 6oz Cranberry Pomegranate Juice mixed with 6oz water --------------------------------------------------------------------- I got a good deal on a bunch of bananas today at the store, they were starting to turn brown, so they were for quick sale, so I bought like 3 or so pounds, and last night I chopped them all up and put them in the dehydrator.  The bananas I did yesterday were just so good that I had to make more.  I also got a few more apples, I slice the apples really thin like paper, and when they dry their like a dried leaf, so yummy and just melts in your mouth.
