Hello All, My name is Arnetta and I am hopefully having lap-Band surgery on March 20th provided I get my approval in time. I am semi-excited so far. I won't be fully excited until I get the final approval status. I have messaged several people who were patients of Dr. Rex Luttrell in LR. I am really interested in what life is like after surgery. So, if anyone would like to share their experience with me, I would greatly appreciate it. If you have any questions for me, please feel free to ask. Looking forward to hearing from you and best wishes to you on your journey to a healthier and slimmer you!!! ~Arnetta~

Arnetta, I had my band put in in October.  I love it.  It was the right choice for me.  You will always have to watch what you eat because the band doesn't have that many restrictions with food choices (it sure does with amount!).  Just keep reading about it and good luck to you.  Feel free to ask me any questions if you need to.  Amy is on this board a lot also and she has the band.  She would also be a valuable resource. Thanks, Eliza!! I am looking forward to chatting with you, Amy, and anyone else who can give me some insight. I don't really have a big support system at home so the board will be a valuable tool for me. thanks in advance!!! ~Arnetta

Hi Arnetta, I don't have the band, just wanted to say HI and welcome to the board!  My dad's family is from DeWitt, my grandmother still lives there. I can't help you any with info about the band, but I'm here for support whenever you need it!  Good luck and I hope your approval is done in time.

Hi Arnetta! I had Lap-Band in June of 2007. It has been about 8 months and I can truly say, IT IS AMAZING!! I am so happy that I had this surgery done. You will be thrilled as well when your time comes. I have not had any bad experiences at all. Surgery was fine and I really didn't have all that much pain afterwards. I have had no problems with the band or with eating. It has dramatically reduced the amount I can eat but I can still have pretty much whatever I want. Its just that you have to make healthier choices now than before but you can still splurge every once in a while.  I am on the board quite a bit and would be more than happy to answer any questions you have. You can either make a post or message me. Ask anything at all and I will try to help! Take care and keep us posted as you travel on this life changing journey!!   Karen P.S. I see that we're practically neighbors. I live in Lexa which is near Helena or Marvell! I'm sure you know where that is. Its nice to finally see some people on this board who are in this part of the state!!!

Welcome!   (I can't tell you what your post-op life will be life because I had RNY.)   But good luck!  Hope your approval and surgery goes smoothly!

Hi Arnetta, and welcome I had RNY 17 months ago, and now I'm 11 lbs below goal.  When I had my surgery there weren't too many doctors doing lap band here in LR, but now that there are, we have so many new members that are able to answer your particular questions better than those of us with RNY. This will be an anxious time for you, and I highly recommend you do as much research now so you better prepared for your life after WLS. There are a couple of really good books I can suggest:  WLS for Dummies and  Weight Loss Surgery; finding the thin person within you.  By now the "Dummies" series my have a book specific to Lap Band, I don't know, but you know how that series is.....new ones all the time! Another suggestion before your surgery is to make sure you take your measurements!!!  When you hit a stall or plateau you will be surprised to see how the inches are dropping when the numbers on the scale aren't. Well, I guess that's it for now. Take care and hope to see lots of you around here

Welcome Arnetta! You've come to a great place! I had Lap Band in July 2007 and I LOVE MY BAND! I still have to eat well and exercise, but I don't feel like I'm starving to death or deprived.  I haven't had any complications.

Thanks so much for all of the encouraging messages! I will be spending a lot of time here getting to know all of you and sharing my experiences as well. I will be in touch and feel free to check out my blog. I dont post every day but I do try to keep it up to date. I don't have any friends here yet, but seeing how friendly and supportive you all are, I hope that issue will rectify itself. Once again, I thank you all and welcome all insight. Take care and be good to yourself, Arnetta
