a few favorites
Hi all.....its me the quiet one in Marion.......being long term post op I have found a few things that I liked in the early days and now and thought I would offer this info to all of you. I know some of you are familiar with these items but some people may not be. When I was on the shakes I found if I bought vanilla shakes I could add "Sugar Free Tang" or "Sugar Free Nesquick " and of course ice and a splash of milk. Tastes better and also adds variety. Quick protien idea would be 3 ounce cans of "Swanson brand chunk chicken" you can buy 3 cans in a package for about 4 dollars. Drain off the liquid and it is just like tuna fish. Crystal Light on the go Fruit Punch.......yummmm-o helps me today get in over 80 ounces of water. Just add it to my bottles of water at while at work. Sams sells flavored water by the case called FRUIT 2/O (letter o not number 0), I have seen it once or twice at wal mart. I discovered this in Boston and love it. Breakstones single serve cottage cheese.....same size as yogurt....yummy. Some thing to do with... cottage cheese sprinkle it with powdered jello and add cool whip, you can do this individually or make a whole big bowl....I never measure as I was going to be a chef, so forgive me for not posting measurements. Of course use sugar free. Add a hard bolied egg to your serving of cottage cheese or bacon bits. Cream cheese, mrs dash and small flour tortillas......you could add a slice of ham or turkey too, mix the cream cheese with the mrs dash, spread on tortilla and meat if you like and roll up, then slice and you got pinwheels....this is easy and can be made one at a time and when sliced it could be a meal or two depending on how much you can eat. You can take pieces of ham and chop into ham salad Those who drink broth...I add a splash of Texas Pete to give it a kick I have simmered broth with a hand full of pasta....makes a small quantity Splenda has flavored Stir ins for your individual cup of coffee...french vanilla...yumm-o Since cheese has protien and its yummy....it causes constipation in some. Carnie Wilson admitted to have fissures due to straining while using the bathroom....she said she ate so much cheese it caused this....she had to have surgery.......be careful with cheese...newbies!!!! Peanut butter on bananas....I also add a splash of maple syrup....beats a chocolate bar. May not be the healthiest choice but....when you crave a candy bar or ice cream....this is a better option.
Sometimes it is hard to add variety to our diets, or we just run out of ideas. I think everyone should post some simple favorites for our Newbies and well as out oldbies (nice word, huh?). My tastes have changed and I eat things I would not have before because of how my diet is now. I hope no one "flames" me or my ideas.....if you dont agree with anything I have said thats fine, but someone might find it helpful. The other boards have alot of "flaming and slamming" of each others ideas that it gets old and makes you want to just lurk and not post. Lets be a better board and help each other out. Thank you for listening huggs tammy in marion with the perky tah tahs!!!!!!!!!
