I'm sorry ahead of time because I'm going to come across a bit harsh.  But I really believe you need to hear what I'm going to say. The 2 week liquid diet serves a purpose.  Why, after 2 weeks of compliance (assuming you have complied), would you want to ruin all that now for a "last supper"?  Your stomach needs to be EMPTY to make it easier on your surgeon to "install" your band.  If you wanted a "last supper", you should have done that on the day before your liquid diet started, not right before your surgery.  WTF are you thinking? "Does this thing stay in you the rest of ur life" WTF?  Have you even RESEARCHED this SURGICAL PROCEDURE that you are getting?  I didn't even HAVE the lapband and I know more about it than you appear to.   I really believe you should consider canceling your procedure until you know what you are doing.  Get on the internet or to your local library and RESEARCH all your WLS options.  Learn about all the WLS procedures, including the lapband.  Then, after you know more about what you are doing and getting into, make another appointment with your surgeon and tell him which procedure you think that you would like to have and why and see what he has to say.  That way, you will have done your research and you will know what questions to ask HIM in the appointment before your surgery is scheduled.

Chub Girl, Did your surgeon not explain all of this to you before scheduling the surgery?  I do agree that you need to do more research on this surgery before you have it done. The band is to be considered "permanent" in that it stays in you forever unless there is a medical reason to take it out. I think that you should do a lot more research on this before you do something that is going to change your life forever. I hope you do find out all you can before you have surgery and everything turns out OK for you, Wendi

one more thing....No, not any surgeon can take out the band.  In fact, most surgeons will make you go back to the surgeon who put it in to deal with any problems.  Also, the band works by having it filled, and you should be prepared to go back to your surgeon for monthly visits during your 1st year for band fills.  This means, you have to be prepared to drive 4 hours every month in order to have your band filled, 2 hours to him and 2 hours back home.  You have to be prepared for this or the band will not work.  If you are not prepared for this, you should consider a surgeon that is closer to you.  Hope this helps.
