Hi everyone! Breakfast- scrambled egg and turkey bacon

Snack- 1/4 of a protein bar-----SUSAN, it just about killed me.....I have been worried about not getting my protein in so I just held my nose and made my way through as much of the bar as I could. I couldn't taste anything when I was holding my nose but the texture really grossed me out......I'm gonna have to find some other way to get in the protein!!! Lunch- solid white tuna fish kit-- I ate a little over half the tuna and two crackers. I also replaced the mayo that came with the kit with LF mayo and I used dill pickles instead of the sweet relish that came with the kit. Also the crackers are whole wheat crackers rather than the ones that come with the kit. Its more expensive on me to buy the kits but I had quite a few on hand from previous diets and they don't expire until like 2010 so I couldn't stand to see them go to waste. Must be the teacher in me.....we economize and stretch things in any way possible!! Snack- 1/4 cup peanuts Dinner- 1/3 grilled chicken breast and about 1/4 cup of pinto beans I have not added up my protein yet but I'm pretty sure that I have gotten in over 60 grams.. I sure hope so.... Hope everyone has a GREAT Thursday!!  STAY WARM!!   Karen

Karen, so sad about the protein bar, but some of them are really good, you just haven't found one. South Beach Diet has some that are very tasty(to me, anyway) and you can get them at Wal-mart. They are a little high is sugars, but as a bander that shouldn't bother you. I like the Chocolate Crisp Meal replacement bars. They are meant to be a meal, not a snack as they have 210 calories in them. They're hefty, and I can't really eat one whole one at a time.....but they have 19 grams of protein in them. You could cut one in half and have one in the morning, other half later in the day. You're doing a good thing exchanging the LF mayo, whole wheat crackers and relish. Do you like shrimp?  Here's a great recipe for shrimp ****tail that's very portable: 10  med/large shrimp( I buy them by the bag at wally-world, defrost in some warm water, pull the tails off) chopped 1 stalk of celery, diced fine 2 TBS bottled ****tail sauce Mix everything together and top whole wheat crackers. Keeps in the fridge for a couple of days.  I think there are 21 grams of protein in a serving (normal) so you could probably get 2-3 servings out of it. Also, try substituting almonds for the peanuts, both are good, but almonds have higher protein and less fat. 11 almonds 86 cals 7 grms fat 3 grms protein. But, the fat is monounsaturated and the good kind of fat.

Karen, Do you like pudding?  Lately I've been making my own protein pudding...it is so much easier than the shakes.  I use 1 cup FF milk, 1/2 packet jello instant pudding mix (any flavor, chocolate is not so great), and 1 scoop vanilla protein powder....blend it in a blender and immediately pour into a cup or portion it out into smaller containers, put it in the fridge to set and get cold, doesn't take long.   I just pour it in a large coffee mug and eat half at a time, makes about a cup. I also eat the Atkins Advantage protein bars.  The morning chocolate chip crisp is good and so is the chocolate peanut nougat bar...I don't eat them every day, but they're nice when you're on the go and need something handy...these are both low in sugars, have 11-13g protein each, and 5-7g fat.  They are small bars so I have no problem eating a whole one at a time. Good luck to you!

Hey Will, I was on the HMR shakes for 4 weeks, I learned to get creative.  Have you tried buying the little sugar free drink mixes?  Like Wylers Light (walgreens) or the Walmart brand, or if your a bit more wealthier, the Crystal Light packets?  If you have Vanilla HMR shakes, these mix up great and give you much more choices in flavor.  I never cared for the fresh (or frozen) fruit mixed with them.  Also I bought different flavors of sugar free pudding, and would add a spoonful to a shake as well, mmmm it was yummy, add 2 ice cubes or so and instant frosty!!

Ya... I'm doing the drink mixes too.  They are AWESOME!!!  I've had the cranapple is great, and cherry limeade is really good, peach tea didn't work so good...  I've got some more flavors that I haven't tried yet... Fruit punch, grape, and some other stuff... As far as fruit goes... My wife bought me some frozen fruits (and 2 fresh mangos) and I've been trying them out as well.  Cherries worked, Blueberries worked, Pineapple was horrible.  I hadn't tried strawberries, blueberries, mixed berries and (fresh) mango yet.  It's currently day 4...and I haven't thought about cheating in house once...  (Now... going someplace else to eat...is tempting.... thank god for the rain and no vehicle...lol) I'm hanging in there!!!
