First 25 pounds gone!

Well, I'm pretty excited.  Weighed today and I've now lost a total of 25 pounds.  (I know it's much slower than you RNY folks, but not bad for a lap-bander!)  My original weight was 316.8 on Nov 20 when I started the pre-op liquid diet, then 309 on surgery day, Dec 4.  I am hoping to lose an average of 10 pounds per month, and so far I'm doing it.  And now that I'm used to what I can and can't eat (i.e., what will go through the band and what will get stuck), life is a breeze.  I find I enjoy my food more because I don't feel guilty about eating anymore.  If I have a snack, it's a small one, and I really have fun eating it.   One thing that I'm doing (it may or may not help fellow lap-banders), is I've joined online weigh****chers.  I log everything I eat and keep track of my points.  It not only helps keep me on track, it reminds me of the healthiness or not-so-healthiness of the foods I'm eating, reminds me to drink my water, take my vitamin formula, etc. So anyway, I just wanted to post because no one knows how good it feels to hit those milestones than other folks who have been there.  I hate that I missed the support group meeting of folks on here, but I was still recovering from surgery and preparing for a trial, and I didn't look at the forum for about a week, so didn't know about it.  I'll try to make it next month so I can meet some of you folks in person. Hi Debra Slow and steady wins the race...not that it's a race to begin with, but 10 lbs a month will get you below 200 lbs in a year's time. Not too shabby in my book! Now, joining WW is a great idea IMO for those who don't have the restrictions that rny gives you. You are doing the right thing to reset your thinking when it comes to food. You are using your tool and the opportunity it's giving you to achieve the optimum results. Our next meeting at Baptist is on Valentines day, hope it doesn't keep too many away. We'll be glad to meet you and personally welcome you to the Loser's Bench. Keep up the good work,

Susan
