Bread, milk and eggs
Good bright and chilly morning to you all!
Monday is a holiday for some, my regular day off, but just wanted to see what everyone was going to be up to tomorrow. The weather forecast says that there may be sleet/snow here in Central AR this week, so I'm sure one of the things we'll all be doing will be going out to buy bread, milk and eggs LOL
Now, before my surgery I hoarded food, especially if I heard there was bad weather predicted. But now I think it's kind of funny that people do that. Do we honestly think that even if we're stuck inside for a couple of days we're going to starve??? Are we so addicted to food that the thought of having to cut back a little because we can't get out sends us into a shelf clearing frenzy??? How many of us have gone to the store before a storm only to find the shelves bare? We are a society of gluttons.
Taking inventory of my pantry shows that I could honestly eat for better than a week, especially since I have a new tub of protein in the cupboard.
WLS has changed more than my weight, it has changed the way I feel about food, therefore my life. It's an amazing feeling!
Just my little editorial comment/rant. What mental changes have you experienced since WLS???

All I've really used since surgery is Nectar Fuzzy Navel from Syntrax. It's not one of the creamy types that most people like, it's water based, kind of like Crystal lite.
As far as I know there is only one type of protein powder that you can bake with and it's called Anywhey, bought at GNC. The composition of protein changes and breaks down when heated so you can't just put protein into something and think it will be ok. Trust me, I tried it and it isn't pretty!
There are some web sites (I'll find them and post them when I can) that you can buy samples from. It's a great way to try different types to see whether you'll prefer creamy over water based. But.....don't buy too many pre-op. Some people's tastes really change after surgery and something you like the day before surgery you won't be able to get down a week later.

I am a food hoarder, I wasn't really so much before surgery, but I am now. When I go shopping, if I see something I might like, I buy it, and it may sit in my pantry for months before I eat it. I do this alot when I find good deals on stuff that are low fat, fat free, sugar free, made with splenda, etc. I think a lot of it may have something to do with the fact that I get bored of my food, and need to shake things up a bit. About half or maybe a little more than half of my pantry is "MY" food, different cans of soups, canned foods, boxes of wheat thins, crackers and other munchies, also powdered milks, sugar free hot cocoa mixes and SF carnation breakfast (good for mixing with protein powders), lots of boxes of puddings, you name it, I got it. But I think when I shop, that I forget that a can of soup can make 4 or 5 sometimes 6 meals for me (depending on can size). I could probably live a month or longer off of what was in my pantry alone, without shopping for anything else.

Hello beautiful Susan, I am for sure a person that likes to stock up on the food. I need to clean out my food pantry today. I think we could live for well over a month on what we have here. Although, the new food items are much more healthier than before. I hope we get that bit of winter weather, just for a day or so.
