approval

well, my dr. office called today.  my insurance was approved and im waitng on a call from the nurse tomorrow or thurs.  for my appt. with the dr. gibbs and his dietician.  she talked like surgery would be in feb.  it only took the ins.  less than 1 week  for approval.  im planning on the lap band and need to loose over 200 pounds.  im getting nervous.  i only started on the 26 of november.  my surg. will be at baptist med. center in lttlerock.  hope i dont chicken out.  it seems so fast.  any one got any infor. on dr. gibbs i would apprecate it.  or how they have done after band surgery .  thanks.  brenda in alma.

Congrats!!  I had Dr Baker and had Open RNY, but my surgery was at Baptist.  Baptist is a really good hospital, they have special equipment and rooms for weightloss surgery patients.  There are several of Dr. Gibbs patients here, and I am sure they will be telling you all kinds of good things. 

what do u mean special equipment and rooms

They have beds that are bigger and made to hold overweight people.  The beds are really neat, they can be folded up like a giant overstuffed chair.  Also they have chairs that are larger and more comfortable, bigger sized gowns.  Just everything is so much better when its made for an overweight person.  If you look at my pictures, I have pictures I took of my hospital room, and my bed and chair and such.  Plus the staff understand weightloss surgery, and they were always able to help me with any questions I had. 

I liked Dr. Gibbs and his staff. Gibbs done my open RNY on the 2nd of Nov. His scar is better than my c-section scar!!  To me, he actually cared about my health and wanting me to have a great outcome. I really liked baptist hospital.  The nursing staff I had were very helpful.

Hi Brenda, Congrats on your approval!  That's wonderful!! I had lap band surgery almost 6 months ago and I feel great.  I'm taking half of the blood pressure medicine and half of the diabetes medicine that I was before surgery.  I've lost 50 pounds and I'm thrilled! As long as you understand that the band is a "tool" and it won't do all of the work for you, you'll do fine.  You must eat well and exercise. Again, congrats!
