What's the Best Hydrating Lotion/Crème? Firming?
What lotion/crème have you found to be the best hydrating? My hands are so dry (worst) but my whole body is dry. I’ve bought some lotions/crèmes but wanted to get you guys input before going out and spending more money on ones that don’t work. Do you have a favorite? Also, do you use the firming lotions/crèmes?
i really like anything by aveeno, and the cetaphil body cream is really good. if you are super dry, try to go more for the creams and butters rather than just the lotions. my mom likes to refer to her cetaphil cream as her crisco! it really does kind of have that consistency, but it feels WONDERFUL on my super dry, super sensitive skin. it doesn't have any added fragrance, so it doesn't smell good in the jar--it doesn't smell bad, just doesn't really have a scent. i just do perfume so it all works out okay.
just fyi, i have bought the equate version of the cetaphil cream (because the tub of it is kind of expensive!) and the equate works almost as well. it's not as thick, but it does feel good.
Our youngest daughter (she's 4) has eczema and her skin dries out really bad, especially during the winter. We use the Aveeno creme and it works wonders for her. After you bathe don't dry off completely...while your skin is still a little wet slather on the creme. A little goes a long way so a tub will last for a while and you'll see results in just a couple of days.
Good luck and work real hard to get those fluids in!
If you're wondering if the firming creams/ lotions help our lose skin, the answer is no. The products already suggested are great, drinking lots of water is very important too. Your skin is your largest organ and needs plenty of water to stay hydrated.
You can also try the old fashioned idea of keeping a small pan of water simmering on your stove to put some more moisture into the air of your home. The heaters we use while it's cold really dry out the air. Just don't forget to check it regularly so it doesn't dry out and burn.
