I am not doing so good in this part of my journey...9 yrs later. :-(
either way in regards to how he did it, some of what he says is quite helpful. most of us decided to do the surgery as a last resort, we failed in all other areas. Some of what he says is helpful... like "stop listening to the critisizm (sp) of others"...... i know some of my loved ones were not helpful in my daily struggles with my weight. He talks about not setting a goal on how much to lose but to set a goal to improve our health and prolong our lives. I am going on 7 years post op and have re-gained some weight, I have some new health problems now, everyday is a struggle for us no matter how we lost the weight. We are not cured. I look back and see how I could have done differently some things and maybe never re- gained some of my weight (30 pounds). I have no support system, so to all of you who do, I must say keep up with it, I moved across the country and lost my support group. None of us need to be ashamed of how we lost our weight, we need to be proud that we took the steps to do so. Its not about being banded or having RNY, its about using this tool to achieve a healthier life, being able to walk farther, being able to sleep at night with out the risk of sleep apnea. I never left my house before surgery...now I work full time and want to be out of the house. I just thought some of what he said was helpful. Regardless of how he did it. I thought it was going to be a book about waking up and pounding the pavement with grueling jogs and eating fiber and drinking water...its not. oh well I gotta work now, have a good day to all
