Support Group????

         I was wondering if anyone was from around the Jonesboro area. I went to a seminar on the 18 of December for Dr K Bruce Jones. I got the call Thursday to make my appointment to see the doctor, but at the seminar he spoke of having to attend at least one support meeting? I don't know of any locations or when they have them? Just wondering if by chance if someone on here has attended one.           Also I was wondering if anyone else has used the same doctor. Haven't heard anyone on here mention him. I am self pay and have saved for quite some time for this, kinda scared if something were to happen (some kind of ncomplication) would it cost that much to repair what was wrong. Has anyone had any problems?Thank you for all the help. Kinda gets a little nerve racking when I don't know what to expect.

Hi    welcome to the board!! I don't know anything about Dr. Jones but I think there is at least one person on here who has used him, but I don't remember who it is.  And I don't know anything about the band either, I had RNY but I wanted to wish you luck on your first appt. and the beginning of your journey.  We have a few banders on here so I'm sure they'll be happy to share their experiences with you. Baptists Hospital in Little Rock has a monthly support group meeting.  The next one is Jan. 10 from 6pm-7:30pm and will be held in Gilbreath 22 on the ground floor...I think its somewhere near the cafeteria, never actually been to that room.  Others on here will be able to tell you exactly where it is. I don't know if there are any support groups in your area or not...maybe someone else will be able to help you out with that. Good luck and let us know if you have any more questions!!

Hi there If you go to the top of the page here there is a tab for support groups.  You might have to go to Memphis for one. Sorry, but as far as I know the only other group other than Little Rock is in Fort Smith. Take care!

Dr. Jones is a fine surgeon. I dont personally know anyone that has had the Bariatric surgery with him, but as a nurse, I dealt with him with several patients..and he is highly skilled. As for support groups..I believe there is at least one here in Jonesboro. We have 2 Bariatric surgeons in Jonesboro, so Im thinking that would be enough to form a support group. Just call his office and find out. I remember he gave me so brochures on the support group but I threw them out when I decided to find another doctor. good luck

Hello: My name is Criss and I am in the paper work stage of getting surgery approved. I am wondering if there is a support group close to the El Dorado area? I have to attend one meeting before I see the Doctor. I was hoping I could find closer to me than going to Little Rock. Thank you. Criss

I am a member of the support group in Jonesboro.  We will meet January 15,2008 at the St Bernards Imaging Center.  I did not use Dr. Jones, but I work in the same building as he does. I used Dr. William McAlexander.  He is a great guy!
