HI MeriBeth, Welcome aboard and congratulations on taking control of your life!  How brave you were to have your surgery just a week before Christmas, but what a relief to not have to deal with the "oh God, and I going to gain again this holiday season" mentality. Don't be a stranger, we're here to help!

I haven't posted in a little while.  Went in for my first fill this week, and we had a little problem.  My port had separated from my abdominal wall and "flipped" so the needle wa****ting the back of the port and couldn't go in.  So I went back in on Friday for minor surgery to correct it.  My doc was great, and he went ahead and put a 3 cc fill in the band while I was under.  I had liquids yesterday and graduated to mashed taters and noodle soup today, and I've had no problem keeping things down, so it looks like things are going well. Christmas was good for my family.  My sons and I spent Christmas Eve Eve (or as my best friend calls it -- "Christmas Adam") with my brother and his wife in Russellville.  She had WLS back in the early 80's when folks really didn't know what they were doing.  She weighed 578 pounds then and she now wears about size 7.  But she's had 23 corrective surgeries because they botched things so badly back then.  Still, she says she would go through it all again because she was able to have a life once she lost weight.  She and my bro have been VERY supportive of my decision to have WLS. Then, Christmas Eve, my sons and I went to their dad's for the holiday celebration.  I know, that sounds weird, but he and I have been friends since I was a teenager, and I just love his wife.  We call each other the "wife-in-law," and we get along great.  They married about 7 years after he and I divorced and we're all great friends, so that was a lot of fun. Now I'm just trying to recover from this second surgery so I can get back in the swing of things at work.  Always so much to do.  I hope everyone else has a great New Year.  I'm very excited about 2008 -- I know it's going to be the best year yet!

Sorry about the bump in your road with the port, but it sounds like the doc got it taken care of. How lucky you are to be friends with your ex's wife. I'm sure it makes life much easier for your kids to not have that stress in their lives. Hope you have a wonderful New Year.  Keep in touch, we need to get this board active again!

personal issues are keeping me away. my 18 y/o daughter told me she hated me and moved out of my moms and into a friends house. I dont even know how she is. She came over late christmas day long enough to get her gifts. She no longer wants anything to do with the family. That was the last time we heard from her. This is her SR year in school. Its all because of a boy. She out weighs me by about 45 pounds and one of the last things she said to me was....."your a loser and a fat *****". Maybe some day she will see her wrongs and come home.  My labs are ok......the thyroid was doing better, i think it is getting worse. I go back on the 8th. Also see the "twin" doctor that day as well. Weigh in at 165 today. I went to see Hannah Montana and Trans Siberian Orchestra. Going to see Brad Paisley at the end of January.  I did not make any resolutions. I just want to be healthy and shed some of the weight I have re-gained. I am not putting a number on it 5 pounds would be nice and 25 would be great. I am flexible. I am turning my daughters room into my fitness room. Maybe then I will be more apt to work out....no one can see my fat jiggle or see me sweat. Santa brought me diamonds...in the form of a necklace and earrings, pajamas and robe and slippers, boots, car tires, and a Dooney  &  Bourke hand bag. My son got the Wii he wanted.......he is happy.

Well I am going to close here. Thank you to all of you who took the time to read this. You are all truly wonderful people and it means alot that you check in on me. Thank you!!

Take Care

Tammy,  Soooo sorry about the daughter, when she grows up and looks back, she will realize that not only was her mother NOT a loser, she was far from a fat *****  Children walk on our feet for a while, but our hearts forever, and even though I dont have kids of my own, I have nephews that think more of me than their mothers, and so every mistake they make kills me. I hope the thyroid thing levels out, I know what its like to ALWAYS have something going on, I daily fight the mild depression of seemingly always having a medical issue. But hey, at least we look hot and turn heads while we fight our medical battles.  And yes, my husband says you are one hot head turner!!!  Hes harmless, but does like a beautiful lady and he always looks over my shoulders here to see the great changes all of us "superwomen" have made.  He is great for my ego, and everyone elses, he says all of us were beautiful before, and are as beautiful after.  What a nice guy, KUDOS for him huh?? I wish you could join us for a support group meeting, would love to see you face to face sometime.  Maybe we will just have to take a road trip to see Tammy and her twins!!! Hugs, Rhonda D.

Is there anything meaner than a teenage girl?? They're so willing to beat you with those wings they're trying desperately to learn how to use.  And yep, it usually involves hormones.  It may take time, a lot of it, but one day she'll regret the way she's treated you. Just desserts is turning her room into an exercise space....pretty tough to come back home when your bed in now a treadmill.  Sounds like Santa was very good to you, but what a contrast....diamonds and tires??? Creative, to say the least. Did he wrap them with a big bow?? LOL We went to the TSO concert too, my first time.  I'm a classical musician (clarinet at UALR) and while I enjoyed the show, it made me think of Beethoven on crack!  But, it was good to get out with DH, we don't do it enough. Gotta go do breakfast. Have a great day. Let us know what the doc says on the 8th.  Want to keep you healthy!! Smoochies

Hey Guys,  I'm still lurking...weighing all the decisions whether I really want to pursue weight loss surgery or just try really, really hard (which has never worked for long before).  Along with reading your posts, I've watched a couple episodes of Big Medicine and anyting else I can read or watch.  Which, brings up another question that you all have been discussing......the skin problems after you lose the weight.  My gosh, on that show (which I know it's TV and they have to be dramatic to keep everyones interest) the sagging and hanging skin after the weight lost is pretty dramatic and seems to be as big of an issue for everyone as the excess weight.   Is this typical for everyone?  How does everyone deal with it?   I know everyone can't afford to have plastic surgery after the cost incured with the WLS.  Sorry to be so nosey, but just want to address as many issue as possible before I make my decision.
