I got an email today from Building Blocks and I thought I would pass it on here for everyone else.  It even has a coupon code at the bottom for 10% off your entire order from them.
Calcium Citrate! As a surgical weight loss patient, you know that there are several supplements that are imperative for you to maintain in your diet for life.  One of the most critical of these supplements is calcium.  But it is not enough to take calcium, it is important that you are taking the proper form of calcium, the proper amount of calcium and ensuring that it contains adequate levels of vitamin D.  The only form of calcium that is recommended for bariatric surgery patients is calcium citrate.  According to guidelines, you should be taking at least 1000mg of supplemental calcium citrate with vitamin D.  At Building Blocks we recognize how difficult it can be to stay compliant with calcium and that is why we offer ours in 2 great tasting chewable flavors (orange and chocolate) or swallowable capsules.  Our calcium citrate contains:
  • 1000 mg of calcium citrate
  • 600 IU of vitamin D
  • 200 mg of magnesium
Our calcium provides the highest levels of vitamin D and magnesium available in a bariatric supplement. Remember that calcium is critical to your long term health, so if you don't take Building Blocks, please be sure to take a calcium supplement in the form of calcium citrate.
Save 10% Use the following coupon code when ordering and receive 10% off of you entire order.  Thanks for using Building Blocks!  Coupon code is: DEC2007OH10 - this was accidentally left off the first e-mail.  Please accept our apologies.

Hey Evelyn, Great topic, and one we might be discussing in our January meeting.  I will order some of these since my Vitamin D level is extremely low, most likely I'm deficient in calcium. Thanks for the heads up. Happy Holidays

Susan

Sherri, I remember when that link was stickied on the forums, I ordered some of the freebies and they sent me 3 different sample packets full of different chewables and vitamins.  I had forgot about that.  I should find where I put those freebies and try them out.  Susan, hey!  I think a topic on multis and other vitamins would be great.  We can discuss why we need certain vitamins and perhaps other malabsorption problems.
