Looking for a New Doctor
Hello all. I am looking for a primary care doctor that is receptive to bariatric surgery. I am new to the AR area and hoping to have lap band with Dr. Baker. I need to establish a relationship with a pcp here in the NLR/LR/Sherwood area. I am looking for a dr. that is receptive to bariatric surgery but I am afraid that I will have a difficult time finding one because I am just over the 40 bmi mark. Please someone help me find a good pcp...not just for surgery but for a long term. Thanks for any help!!!
I can certainly recommend my doctor to you, but he's in West Little Rock. Well worth the drive in my opinion. His name is Daniel Watson and he's at the Autumn Road Family Practice. He's been more than supportive for me and is thrilled to death every time I walk into the office, hugs and praise!
My BMI was 42.3 I think...sorry I don't remember exactly. He did tell me right off that it wasn't a quick fix or magic pill. He wasn't being unsupportive, just wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting into. Dr Baker was his first suggestion, but I went with Gibbs because at the time he was the only doc doing rny lap.
Oh yeah, he was named the Arkansas Times Family Practice Dr of the year!
Good luck!
Susan
Tommiejean, you are one beauty! And, by your pictures, do I detect a bit on the *****y side??
I started dieting when my grandmother, who lived with us, decided I wasn't going to be a fat little girl and put me on a diet when I was 7. I was allowed hard boiled eggs, spinach (from a can) and tomato juice for two weeks. Never had a chance after that.
Glad you found a WLS friendly doctor in your area, but if you don't click, check out Dr Watson.
Is your girlfriend coming with you to the meeting on the 10th? They really help calm those "family of the patient" jitters. Oh, and you can bring Bentley and just leave him with me....he's adorable!!!!
Anything I can do, just give me a holler. PM me if you feel the need to keep anything private.
Dusting off the loser's bench for you
