One week out, going well!
Well, it's been one week since my lap-band. I started out at 316.8, I was on the liquid diet for two weeks and was 309 on surgery date, and today I weighed in at 295.6. So I've lost 13.4 pounds since the surgery (in one week!) and 21.2 pounds overall. My first little weight goal is to lose 50 pounds from my surgery date to my birthday (march 6), and I'm already almost a third of the way there. I know it will come off more slowly now, but it's nice to see it working so well. I walked 15 minutes the night of my surgery and 30 minutes a day each day since. I'm bound and determined to do this right.
I have noticed that I feel very depressed. I'm not sure why that is, but I don't usually take meds and it may be the result of the anesthesia "hangover" and the pain meds. I've had quite a bit of nausea, but no vomiting (thank goodness!), and I was able to eat soft-solid food yesterday (eggs) and that was so good. I'm sick to death of sweet stuff. Funny, since my downfall has always been sweets. The pre-op and post-op liquid diets have just about cured me of that. Right now I think that if I never eat anything chocolate again, that will suit me just fine. Of course, I'm sure when I'm back to 100%, I'll change my mind about that.
I'm back at work and have much to do; just wanted to post these results. Thanks for the support, y'all.

Congratulations. I am glad to hear your home and doing good. After I had my surgery, I went through a depression for 3 weeks. It was pretty bad, where I just would start crying. I think it was because I was now a new person, and everything I did was different than the way I had done things before. Eating, drinking, sleeping, dressing, bathroom, bathing, you name it, was not the same as it was before my surgery, and I cried because of it.
But I hear from many other people, that a depression is normal after any kind of major surgery, whether it be for weightloss or something else. Once I was on track and got used to my new lifestyle, the depression went away.
I look forward to hearing more as you lose more weight!! Welcome to the losing side!!

Thank you for the encouragement, ladies. My brother called last night and when I told him I had lost 21.2 pounds since I started this journey on November 20, I thought he was gonna cry, he was so happy. This from the ultimate Mr. Macho. As soon as I got back to work this week, the depression lifted. Apparently, I can only veg out for so long before I get really, really unhappy. No wonder I never take vacations -- I'd probably shoot myself. lol.
Anyway, I'm feeling great, learning what I can and can't eat, and basically really taking notice for the first time about how to eat right. I'm learning to cook new healthy meals that taste great (watching the cooking channel helps) and I'm exercising 30 minutes every morning first thing. I've made a promise to myself that if I went to all the trouble and expense of having this surgery, I was going to do everything I'm supposed to do. I'm on the way. I really appreciate the encouragement of the folks on this board.
