I messed up on my "liquid" diet. I just coudlnt take the taste. For once it didnt have anything to do with will power and the inability to stick with something.....it had to do with the fact that I couldnt tolerate the puddings...they were awful. My dh tried doing the diet one day...he didnt make it all the way thru...told me he didnt know how I dd it for a week.. anyway.....im not giving up. I went and bought some protein shakes and some low calorie, lower carb, higher protein foods...just going to have to do this on my own. Im definetly not giving up. Just changing the way Im doing it. I did get off the dieting for a day...Im so hoping I didnt gain back anything from my 15 lb loss. I just gotta really work at it... Im thinking of trying the "liquid" again next week. I still have all of it and paid alot for it...besides, I know its works for weight loss......I just dont know if I should torment myself like that.... any advice?

Call you Dr. I got my liquid diet from my Dr. as well.....it is specially formulated for optimum loss and helps to shrink the liver. all that  I got from my Dr. though was shakes...vanilla and chocolate....I mixed fresh fruit in it and sf puddings to make it edible....and I made myself a can of broth a day....either chicken or beef....wasnt on my diet BUT tooo much sweet stuff for me. I would call and ask about some different items for more variety you can purchase from the store. and maybe they could buy back some of those items you havent used and wont use. I cheated a tad on my liquid diet...on fathers day we had chili dogs...I had one too...LOL I put my dog and chili with some beef broth in the blender and had one with my family...it was suprisingly good....... dont beat yourself up....you did it for a week!! you lost 15 pounds!! keep strong...it wont be long now! nutti

We all mess up once in a while.  But it is very important you follow what the surgeon wants you to do.  If he wants you to do a liquid diet then you need to make sure you do it.  You have to think about it like this, if you can't do it now, then how do you expect to do it after surgery?  After surgery, especially early out requires you to really stick to the surgeons instructions to a T.  Your new pouch will not be healed and "cheating" and not sticking with it can cause your pouch to stretch and even worse you could bust the stitches.  I hope you can get back on track.  I really want to see you succeed before surgery and after as well.  I stuck with my liquid diet for 4 weeks, only once did I cheat and that was to take 2 bites of bread.  I felt so guilty with it, and thought if I couldn't do it now, then I couldn't do it after, and vowed to not cheat again.  This surgery means everything.  I have not once cheated and have stuck to everything my surgeon has told me to this day.  I have not had very many problems (side effects), and even those are very minimal.  Keep us updated!  And I will add an extra prayer for you for strength!!

You should do your liquid diet.  It is not just for weight loss.  It is to shrink your liver.   I know that that is MUCH easier said than done.  I hated the liquid diet.  I mean H.A.T.E.D. it.  For me, it was the worst part of the entire WLS process.  I'm not kidding. Everything changes post-op.  If you can just make it through this, you can do it.

Lisa, STAY FAR AWAY FAR FAR AWAY from the puddings they are NASTY....I survived and yes called it survival of 14+ days of Dr. Jones liquid diet earlier this year. My advice is make the shakes and freeze them until slushy...I also got some cream of chicken from them and was able to substitute this for my shake at supper. It was one of the hardes things I hav eever done and a complete test of willpower. The chocalte is about the only flavor that was tolerable except every once in awhile I blened the vanilla with diet orange soda and made a slush...The berry drink mix was doable but the chocolate was the best of all but the pudding of any flavor was completely horrible. Please DO NOT Give up it is doable and the longer you stick with it the closer you get to your goal but I will not say it get easier it is simply surviviable...Take Care Kathy

thanks Kathy.....Yes they are nasty. The shakes are no better, at least not to me. I loved the bars...if only I could have eaten 6 of those a day, i would have stuck with it. As it is...I quit...but still have alot of the product left. I am now planning on switching doctors to one that doesnt require weight loss to the degree that Dr. Jones does..anyway...thanks and good luck

If there is any way that you could get your hands on some 'Health One' protein shakes your problems would be over.  Health One is what they use at UAMS - where Gov. Huckabee went to lose his weight.  You can cook with those shakes and they are delicious.  They even have a potato soup shake that you can use to make potato chips out of.  I went to UAMS and stayed on those shakes for 3 months.  I only lasted one week on the shakes I got at Dr. Baker's office.  Luckily I still had friends in the UAMS program and could get some Health One.  Maybe you could get your doctor to get you some Health One shakes.  If he does let me know and I can send you bunches of recipes.
