I am getting started on the journey for weight loss. I am trying to get the lapband done in little rock, ar by Dr. Wellborne. I was just wondering if anyone has any information on him or just wanted to share some stories I have been what everyone calls a lurker for about 2 years now and I am finally getting serious about this thanks to all the good people on here for the stories.
Hello, yes i'am from alma. bout an hour away from you. i just got back from the seminar at baptist with dr. gibbs. im considering the lap band too till i heard the seminar. now, im on the fence again an cant decided which would be better for me. im scared of both procedures. my name is brenda. what are they requiring u to do before surgery and what are the horror stories u have heard concerning both surgeries. please reply . brenda
I am going to the seminar next Wed, so I will no more after that. All the insuraunce has told me so far is that I need 5 years of medical records showing that I have been overwieght. My job requires a physical every year so that was no problem for me. I have been overwieght all my life so I wont have no problem proving that I need the surgery. I also had to get a letter from my primary care doctor which he give me with no problems. They also recommend a BMI over 40 I also have that covered. As far as the horror stories I really have none to mention on the band that is why I am leaning toward that. I have researched my tale off on the band. I have done a little searching on the other types but I dont like the death rate and the bit about cutting the stomach. So I think I will stay away from that. I also like about the band is that if there is some problem with it that it can always be removed. My wifes friend recently had the band surgery and is a week out with no problems other than being sore but that is expected.
Hello, I had the LapBand surgery with Dr. Baker in September and absolutely love it!!! I have lost 43 pounds so far and am feeling great. I have had no problems with the LapBand at all. The total recovery from the surgery took a few weeks, but I was back to work quickly. I had the surgery on a Wednesday, and was at work the following Monday. I have heard a lot of good things about Dr. Wellborn. I hope everything works out and you are able to get the surgery. I was also scared of the gastric bypass. I just think it was too drastic for me, but that is my opinion. You should do what you think is right for you. And by the way, I am from Dardanelle, now live in Russellville, and work in Ola. So if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
