Do you ever feel like a cheater?

I know that even with WLS, there’s a still a lot of work on our part to be successful at weight loss.  You still have to make good food choices, drink your liquids, and exercise regularly.

But when someone who doesn’t know you had WLS asks how you’re losing the weight, do you ever feel like a cheater (even a little bit)?

Sometimes I do.  I don’t want to because it IS still so much work on my part, but I do.  How do you get past that feeling & just OWN your weight loss?

Don't be so hard on yourself! I know what you're saying and some of it for me has been that the response will be almost as if I cheated. When I respond with "I had surgery" I get that tell tale "Oh". For some I have been able to help understand the surgery and have even passed along information for my surgeon. But for the most part, I get the feeling that they are wanting my weight loss to have been something that they could've done without the commitment to surgery.

I am not at all ashamed of my choice. I've worked my tail off to make this a success. I know people who've had the surgery and it wasn't successful for them because they were unwilling to do the work. I will work and if I feel sometimes like I cheated - well, cheating sure does look good in that size 8 dress I wore the other day!

You are right Angie.   Thanks. Sometimes I think too much!
