I'm new to all of this.  Don't really have anything going enough yet to really be attending these meetings, but I'd like to.  Can't seem to find a surgeon that takes Medicare and Medicaid.  But I know you have to make so many of these and usually a seminar.  This meeting is at Baptist Hospital, right? How do you find the room it is in? And do you need to bring anything? Also, if anyone knows of a surgeon that takes Medicare and Medicaid, PLEASE let me know.  Dr. Baker normally does I think, but he's not right now.  I have my PCP's blessing and don't want to waste time.  He might change his mind! LOL

Hi Amber, Dr Gibbs is still taking Medicare patients but on a limited basis. Attending this meeting would satisfy your seminar requirement. This would be a great time for you to meet he and his staff as well as getting information about the surgeries. Sure hope you can make it. We'd all love to meet you! Good luck on your journey

That sounds great!  I didn't realize that the doctors go to these support groups.  I would love to meet him.  And trying to soak up all the info I can get.  Thanks so much Susan.  Looking forward to meeting you all, too.  Hope my step mom is free to watch the little wild one on that day. LOL I'm so excited and nervous all at the same time.  Just hope the Lord sees fit to make this happen for me.

The doctors don't usually come to these meetings, this is just a very special event. That's why it's so important for everyone who can come to be there. I know the bariatric coordinator, the nutritionist and Dr Gibbs awesome nurse, Carrie will be there, so it really is a great opportunity for you. Sure hope you can make it!

I can hardly wait for this meeting.  I'm taking a little time off work early that day just to be able to make it.  I'm trying to talk my aunt into going too.  She's farther out than I am and doesn't go to many meetings because of her killer schedule.   I'm thinking about bringing some stuff that I don't want/use with me.  I want to run it by some of you to see if you think it would be insulting or tacky.  I'll just throw it away then. I bought a bunch of stuff where I'd try it, hate it and throw it out.  I have the following things (unopened and still sealed) that I don't want and don't really want to just throw away. 1 Peach Flavored ProteinSLAM! (I hated the first one I drank and don't want this one.) mutiple packs of sugar free jello snack packs (various flavors - I'm just not a jello person.) I also have an OPEN container of the vanilla protein powder you buy at Wal-Mart.  I've discovered that I'm not big on protein powder.  I used this ONCE and never again.  So there is practically the whole tub of it left.  I'd like to give that away as opposed to throwing it away, but I don't want to insult anyone or be tacky by asking if they want something. I don't have coodies or anything, I just don't always know the rules of society when it comes to that sort of stuff. Feedback, even negative, would be appreciated.  I'd rather throw it out than look tacky or insulting.

Hey Wendy, I will take the vanilla protein powder.  I am almost out of my protein powder and won't be able to buy any until November, so that would be cool if I could have it. I definitly dont need any jello though, I stocked up for over a year on jello, everytime it was on sale I would buy lots of it up, thinking I would eat it all, LOL well I still have like 20-30 boxes still left.  I am so glad that I can go to the meeting this month.  My sister is taking me and she is leaving the hubby and baby at home so she will get to go to the meeting with me.
