Frustrated
I have been stuck at the same weight for 2 weeks, even after my 2nd fill. I walk and exercise every single day, more than I ever have. I eat at leat half of what I use to eat and just cannot seem to lose weight. If I have to stop eating, what was the purpose of having surgery? I have not lost like all the other lap band patients since day one. I have only lost 18 pounds in the last 8 weeks and I have really had to work very hard to lose that, with exercising and walking and pretty much starving myself. Any ideas? I just don't get it. I actually do stay hungry all the time. My band can't hold anymore fills right now because I struggle with food going down now. I can do more fills but wouldn't be able to tolerate anything by mouth if I do. My metabolism seems to have just shut itself down. I still have energy but obviously not enough to burn any calories at all. It is like, the more I exercise, the less I lose. Just venting. But if anyone has any suggestions, they are most welcome!

I just had my first fill and my doc wanted to know abotu intake etc and said I was not getting enough calories so I have added a protein supplement to my SF instant breakfast drink....I hope it will work since I only lost 4 pounds in 5 weeks. I am hoping to lose 10 before i go back for my second fill scheduled in 6 weeks...Good Luck

Hi Brenda.
I live in another state, but accidently got onto your state's site - still not sure how, but that 's OK. I think I can answer your question about the DS. That stands for duodenal switch. Below is a link explaining the procedure. Also, you can go to the DS message board and get lots of info. http://www.duodenalswitch.com/procedure/procedure.html I usually stay around the VSG site. The VSG (vertical sleeve gastrectomy), can be the first part of the DS, a two procedure surgery. Over the last few years, the VSG been performed as a one stage procedure, without the added malabsorption of the "switch." The majority of the stomach is removed to prohibit larger intakes of food than 2-3 ounces. The VSG is a restrictive procedure, somewhat (not really in many ways) to the lapband, The lapband gives restriction but also gives the unfortunate chance for slippage, erosion, and ongoing appointments for fills and unfills. Sorry, but I won't be of much help on finding a doctor in Little Rock. If you go to the web-site having to do with the procedure you are considering, you will find all sorts of information, including dr. recs. Good luck in making your decision. Now, back to my search for the California page!
