Moved to Arkansas

Hi, y'all we moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas from San Antonio, Texas.  I have been away from email and OH and other support systems since the end of June.  I am 6 mos. post op and looking for support resources in the area.   If you go to my profile and look me up, you'll probably find that none of my stuff has been updated.   Hopefully I'll ge to that soon!   Sadly, I can't get DSL internet service in Hot Springsand I've decided I'd rather have dial-up than no internet service at all! Do any of y'all live near here?  Are there any support groups around Hot Springs or do I need to drive to Little Rock for a group.  I really need the support because I'm doing it on my own right now and struggling through a stall. I am travelling back to my surgeon's office this week for my 6 mo. follow up.  Hopefully things will go well! Also, if y'all have any suggestions on local (inc. LR) barriatric physicians I might be able to follow up with I'd love to hear them.  I think it might be easier...and cheaper to follow up with someone locall rather than travel back to TX when I need a follow up. Hi Christie, Welcome to Arkansas!!!  We're transplanted Californians so I can relate to moving to a new place and getting adjusted.  Yup, dial up is better than nothing, for sure! The only support groups here in AR  (that I'm aware of) are here in Little Rock at Baptist, and in Fort Smith, witch is in the NW corner of the state. Unfortunately, the Baptist meeting was just last Thursday. Bummer.  They're the second Thursday of every month, except December, at 6:00 in the evening.  We'd love to have you join us next month, and promise (well, maybe) to behave. Dr Mark Gibbs was my surgeon and I can highly recommend him. John Baker is another very good Bariatric doctor who also practices at Baptist. IMHO they are the ones to see, they have excellent track records and are great guys. Again, welcome, welcome!

You know, I think you are the person I talked to before about our move...right after we found out we were moving.  I think Dr. Baker is the one my surgeon said to call if I got in a bind.   I will try to remember to be at that meeting next month.  I really do need to develop a support system here.  Can you get me more details on the meeting place?  Even a website to look up?   Thanks so much!  I am so close to having lost 100 pounds since my surgery date and can't really get past that part...sometimes the last 10 lbs are the hardest to lose!  I look forward to meeting more of y'all in the future.   I was able to update my profile today, except for some reason I can't remember how to update my picture.  I'll keep trying! Welcome!   We went to San Antonio in Oct of 2006  for vacation.  It was so nice! I use Dr. Baker and I love him.  He's soft spoken  but serious about following the rules.

Hi Christy, my name is Tina and I live in Hot Springs. As far as the internet goes, call Resort cable and tell them you want Cablelynx or Cablelynx Lite. It is not DSL but it is definitley not dial up. I am in the process of getting everything approved through AR Rehabilitation Services and I have gone to the seminar with Dr. Gibbs. He is a funny and very knowledgeable man. If you have any questions about Hot Springs, I can answer dern near any question you may have about the Spa City.
