What To Eat When Your Always Hungry?

I have been getting hungry all the time.  Like the kind of hunger I had before surgery.  I know its not emotional or anything like that.  I wont even be thinking of food and my stomach will get hungry and growl.  I know I read somewhere, probably on another board, about certain foods will make you hungrier faster and other foods will satisfy your hunger longer.  What foods should I try to eat so that I won't have a hungry tummy an hour after I eat?  What foods cause hunger to come back sooner?

if I were feeling hungry...I would take it as a sign I needed more calories I would make a shake...you can get Whey Protien at Wal-marts  and are you drinking?  I know its hard to get in all that fluid but I find myself drinking some water ....OH and SF fudgecicles are thicker than water more satisfying and chocolate! I dont know if this helps at all. nutti

I've always heard that very high protein foods will satisfy you longer.  Good carbs do the trick too.

Thanks for the replies.  I am drinking, I get almost all my fluids in everyday and depending on how early I get up, sometimes get more fluids in.  I will see if I can go to wal mart and I will see about getting some sf fudgescicles those sound good, I tried to find some at other stores and hadn't had much luck.

Hey Evelyn, At this point post-op you shouldn't be feeling hungry at all! The nerves were severed during surgery and don't start "waking up" for quite a few months.  The noises you're hearing are your intestines getting back to normal from the surgery, the hunger....well, I think it's just that nasty Head Hunger.  If you can't get to the support meeting, maybe a call to Lauren to ask her to explain it better than I can.  Certainly keeping up the protein will stay longer with you than carbs, but you should be eating mostly protein anyway. Hope I'm helping,

Susan

Susan, thats what I thought, but maybe I am a super healer, LOL  I really don't think its emotional hunger.  Because I have had happened while in the car talking about something that had nothing to do with food, and it just kept getting stronger and stronger till 2 hours later I had no choice but to eat a cracker to make it stop.  Sometimes my stomach growls and I can feel the little ball at the end of my drain tube hit the side of my stomach too.  They remind me of the hunger I used to get all the time and my Dr had put me on adipex to make them stop.  I used to get hunger pains soo bad I would feel like I was going to throw up if I didn't eat a cracker or a bite of anything.  I hope its not emotional hunger because I never had a problem emotionally with food.  I will ask Dr Baker about it on Tuesday when I see him.
