STALLED!
Ok, so I've stalled out at 72lbs. lost. I knew it was coming, but its still very frustrating So now I plan to increase everything...my fluids, protein, exercise, and calories...and see if that will jump start the loss again. If that doesn't work then I'll go back to just liquids for a few days and see what happens. If that fails too, then I guess I'll just have to wait it out.
I really shouldn't complain, this is my first real stall since my surgery, I've been pretty consistent up to now. And I have lost another inch off my waist and hips, so that's something. Guess I'll wait a couple of weeks and see what happens.
Susan, what did you do when you stalled? Try to get it going again or just wait it out? It's been two weeks, I know people who have stalled for a month or two
Yep, been there, done that, got the tee shirt for it but now it's too big!!!!!
It's so very frustrating when this happens, I feel your frustration. I was just around 72-73 lbs off and six months when my first big stall happened, and sorry to say, it lasted 5 weeks. It was smooth sailing from then until the second stall at 135lbs. That's when I thought I was done and my body had found it's place to stay. OOOPS.....I've lost another 5 lbs from......guess what? Adding more calories in an attempt to maintain.
So, my dear, you're doing everything there is to do but be patient. I added a second protein drink, but couldn't do any exercising since it was during the "ankle journey".
Don't worry, you're going to look fabulous at that Xmas party of your DH's. Just keep on keeping on!
Hugs to ya!
Susan
Hey Denise,
Haven't heard from you in awhile but then again I haven't had as much time to get on and then I just look around instead of posting you know. Yes I am stalling to and I still have 40 left to lose to my goal and I am just sitting still and it is depressing at times. Good you called on Susan she sure is smart in all this stuff done alot of research i guess but questions usually go to her. I hope I don't go 5 weeks before I start losing again. I was losing 4 lbs a week and then I lost none for the last 2 1/2 weeks. Oh well it will start up again. Well, I will talk at ya later.
I have started my first stall 2 weeks post-op. I dropped 24 pounds in the blink of an eye.
For the last 4 days....NOTHING.
As a matter of fact, it said that I had GAINED .6 of a pound in the last 2 days.
Now I KNOW that that is not really possible considering what I am consuming, but it is still VERY frustrating.
I figure it's because it's around that time of the month, so I am just trying to ignore it and keep doing what I have been doing.
Wendy,
I did the exact same thing in week 2 post-op. I dropped 13lbs. the first week, then nada, nothing, zilch for several weeks. Sorry to tell you, mine lasted well into the second month. But literally overnight I lost like 4lbs. and it has been steadily coming off ever since, 2-3 lbs. a month. I knew it was about time for me to stall out...several others on the January board have stalled also. I know I'm doing everything right, just have to wait it out and let my body "catch up" for a while.
Good luck to you and keep doing what you know is right, that scale WILL start moving again!
Thanks everybody for the support! I saw a new number on the scale this morning, so maybe this is the end of my stall, we'll see. I was in the bathroom every 20 minutes yesterday, fluids just poring out...so I think it was water retention, at least I hope so. Increasing everything seemed to have worked, I'll let y'all know in a few days if the new number sticks.
Thanks again!
I've stalled. too. I'm at 6 mos post op and desperately wanted to have lost 100 lbs. by my 6 mo. date but have gotten nowhere in the past few weeks. I've even added extra workout time and gone back to drinking profect in the morning for extra protein. I would have probably met my goal if I had not quit working out for about a month when we moved to Arkansas. BTW, I am down to 233#. Guess that's not too bad...just wanted to be less weight! Christy
