Surgery date set- freaking out!!
Hey everyone,
I attended Dr. Baker's seminar last night and decided that LapBand was the way I want to go. I spoke to Christy today and I am set for surgery on September 19th. I am a little freaked out. It seems to be moving so fast!! I am really more nervous about the surgery than anything else. I have had a c-section, but don't know how the pain and soreness will compare. Please let me know how tolerable your pain was and how long it took you to get up and around. I have 4-year old twins, so I hope I'm not down long. Thanks for any wisdom you can give to me.

So much easier than a C-section. You sort of have the same soreness and it is a little hard to get up and down from chairs and the bed, but that only lasted a couple of days. I was up walking around the same day as surgery. I have a 5 year old and the only thing was to try and keep her off of my stomach. With her I am human furniture. I finally had to show her my incisions and after her mouth dropped and she realized that I was OK, then she did not jump around on me. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and the next Tuesday was in Grand Rapids MI doing a presentation to prospects. Let me know if I can answer any other questions. I love my band.

I had my surgery Aug 7 and went back to work on the 12th. I was still alittle sore but not bad. Just fatgiued from laying around for a few days. I did have awful chest and shoulder pain but I just walked and kept sipping and it did resolve after about a week to 10 days. I am from your area ( just across the river in Yell CO) and you are welcome to PM me and I will email or you can call if you want to ask any questions.

Hello Kathy, I am so glad to hear from someone close to home. I am actually from Dardanelle, born and raised. I live in Russellville now with my husband, but I'll always be a Yell County girl. Why did you have so much chest and shoulder pain? I am so worried about my stomach area that I didn't consider anything else hurting. Are you doing well with the band? How do you like it? I have heard a few people saying that it's uncomfortable, is it for you? Any information you can give to me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much, Natalie
I can feel my port sometimes but otherwise I don't feel it unless I bend way over and you just know something is there ( port not band). I think I had so much chest and shoulder pain because I had a history of pulmonary embolus and my lung had collapsed on that side as a result. It did resolve after a couple of weeks. My chest hurt because of what felt like heartburn...I think this was from swelling in my stomach with the band. I didn't really take any pain meds except the first day for the 3 hr ride home and the next day but otherwise I was ok. I have a little bit of numbness along the main port scar but it doesn't hurt...I don't regret anything with the band as hard of a process as it was...I had to do 2 weeks of liquids before so that was hard but a good transition for after surgery. I am about 1 month out and am slowly advancing my diet but I am still cautious with my choices...
I went back to work less than a week post surgery and did ok other than being tired from laying around the week before...The main thing to remember is walk, sip, walk and sip some more...A heating pad did help me to have on my chest or abdomen. I tried Gas X but it really didn't help that much for me.
Please feel free to call me if you want to talk. I know I spoke with several people before I had my surgery. Just PM me and I will give you my contact info.
