6 month follow up (at 7 months)

Hi everybody!  I don't get much chance to post, but thought I would let everyone know how my 6 month follow up went.  I saw my surgeon last Tuesday, the 7th, and he said I was doing great!  He said he was proud of me    I really wanted to hear him say that, ya know?  Anyway, he said my labs all looked great, not low or deficient in anything and I had lost 69lbs. at that point...I'm down another 3lbs. this week so make that 72lbs.  He said my weight loss would probably slow down soon and I said its been slow and steady the whole time...he then said whatever you've been doing keep doing it.  The only negative thing he said was that I'm still not eating enough.  I've been having headaches and mild dizzy spells for that last month and he said my blood sugar is dipping too low between meals.  He suggested a protein bar between meals.  My NUT wants me on 3 meals a day, no snacks, but he said she could make an exception to this rule.  I've been doing the protein bars, or yogurt or something like that, between meals since then and my headaches seem to have disappeared, and so have the dizzy spells.  Guess the doc was right.

So, I'm just cruising along, about 40lbs. from goal and finally starting to believe I will actually get there.  I've given myself until my birthday next year (June 30) to reach goal, but hopefully I'll get there sooner.  I really want to wear a little black dress to my husband's christmas party this year at the police department.  A few of the officers have laughed at me in the past, none of them really worth my time, but I would still love to see their jaws drop when I walk in the door and am no longer the fattest woman in the room...payback, ya know?  They deserve it.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Way to go.  I go for my check up in September and for the first time in a long time I'm looking forward to going to the doctor.

Hey Denise.....GREAT WORK!!!!! 72 lbs is amazing!  Don't you just love Dr Gibbs? He gets that little grin when he sees one of us that is doing so well.  Great guy.. I'm having trouble eating enough too, especially now that I've made goal. We work sooooo hard to stick to the rules, three meals a day only, that it's hard to re-train your mindset differently. I was also having dizzy spells, especially when I stand up, and I think it's from not getting in all my fluids every day. I'm close, but should be doing better. I took some of my Fitday.com sheets to the support group meeting on Thursday for JoBeth to take a look at. She was very pleased that I've added almonds into my diet. She says they are super, super good for you, especially heart healthy, and NOT to even worry about the fat grams in them. You might want to get some, there is a brand that is lower in salt than others(gotta have a bit of salt on 'em) which I think are really good. I just grab 5-6 at a time (a serving is 22 almonds) and they're a nice crunch. I bet you're going to get the rest of that 40 lbs off before the xmas party. Phooey on those guys at the PD......I'd love to be the fly on the wall when you walk into the room with your DH....... Take care,

Susan
